<center<Luke 19: 1-10 tells us that:

"When Jesus entered Jericho, he was passing through the city, and it happened that a man named Zacchaeus, who was the chief of the publicans, and wealthy, tried to see who Jesus was, but he could not because of the crowd, because he was small in stature. And running ahead, he climbed a sycamore tree to see him"

This passage relates a unique quality of the divinity of Jesus, because it emphasizes the need to rescue the lost children of the house of Israel, since, in his divinity, he came to seek what was lost, since healthy do not need a doctor.

This story of Zacchaeus shows us that man can obtain many material things, but these are not the ones that satiate the soul, because, Zacchaeus was a very rich man, but he had a great spiritual need, hence, the desire that this Man of knowing Jesus, therefore, when he realizes that he can not reach Jesus, because of a physical impediment that he had, then, he was small in stature, he looked for a strategy, and it was to climb a sycamore tree, to be able to look at him.

Many Bible students have had this gesture of Zacchaeus, as a comfort to approach Jesus, however, I think, it was a strategy of a man who had a spiritual need, and who wanted to satisfy, therefore, takes the determination to get on the tree, to be able to look at that man, who must be special, for everything he was doing in men.

It is important to note that Zacchaeus was an extremely rich man, and his behavior was not honest before God, nor of men, but he had a vision, and that was to set his eyes on Jesus.

Jesus looks at the hearts of men, and not his appearance, and when Zacchaeus looks with his eyes, he touches the heart of Jesus, immediately the Lord looks at him with compassion, and says: Zacchaeus, come down, hurry, because today it is necessary, that I pose in your house.

Immediately the men and the crowd began to murmur, but Jesus, shows him the purpose of his mission, which was contrary to the political expectations that people had, then, he says: the son of man came to seek and save what that had been lost.

¡How good to know that Jesus does not look at the appearances that men look at!

God looks at the heart, and one day, Jesus looked at the heart of a man named Zacchaeus, a man who was willing to do anything to see his teacher, and that day, this man reached the mercy of God, because there was a void in his soul, he needed to fill.

Jesus forgave Zacchaeus, and not only forgave him, but gave him salvation, him and all his house.

Obviously immediately Zacchaeus changed his behavior, recognizing that all he needed was Jesus, to fill that void, which he could never satisfy, despite having a lot of money and material things, he understood that only Jesus is necessary, and from that day changed forever, he repented and he and his house served the Lord.
It is necessary to change position, conduct, if we want to walk with Jesus, Remember that He looks at our heart, not appearances.

Sort:

God never sees the appearance but the heart, he delights when he finds a heart that is sincere, grateful and according to his, even more, when he is willing to do his will.
