RE: The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Genesis 4, DTube Video #8

I wonder why Lamech was worried about a curse if the other person had attacked him. Does that mean the man only potentially slandered him or said things to him, but didn't attack him? And if Lamech is saying that whoever kills him should be cursed 77 times, does that mean he thinks what he did (in killing the man) was 11 worse than what Cain did? Did he think his own punishment should be 77 times as much? This is an interesting verse.

I have also wondered why verse 26 says that people only started calling on the Lord when Enosh was born. It seems to me that would imply that no one else had been. What were Adam, Abel, Cain, Seth doing if not calling on the Lord? It seems strange that Adam would go from walking with God in the garden to not even calling on his name. Also, if the others weren't calling on his name, how did Enosh hear about God and start calling on him? There is a lot we don't know.

It will be fun (for me) to (hopefully) get some of the gaps filled in someday. Maybe there's a heavenly library where we'll be able to go and read/watch what really happened.
