Akara balls
In Nigeria, the Yoruba tribe is a very educated tribe that is known for their heavy appetite and well balanced dieted foods. They have a local snack which is mostly eaten as a breakfast called "Akara". The snack is as well called the breakfast for every local champion or anyone in a hurried business. In the early hours of the day, while everyone is rushing to their various places of work, one can see various elderly and even young women with their stoves frying the snack in large quantities. Then come the swarm of businessmen and women who buy a handful of the snacks in large leather bags and scurry off to their firms.
The snack is prepared by with enough pepper and seasonings and eaten along mostly with "pap" to warm the body system especially during the cold Harmattan or rainy seasons. The meal is prepared by grinding of beans into a paste and cleaning off every single skin and finally, rolled into balls then fried in deep hot pans of groundnut oil. As mentioned above, it is enjoyed with pap and a cool drink of water as a supplement.
