"Chickpea Ghugni Recipe"
Greetings, dear friends
Ghugni is a popular dish in India, made with legumes such as peas, chickpeas, and other pulses. Any type of ghugni is incredibly delicious and flavorful. Meat can also be added to it, but I have prepared a vegetarian chickpea ghugni recipe. This ghugni recipe is typically eaten with flatbreads like puri, roti, and paratha. It makes for an excellent evening snack. I made this recipe a few days ago. So, let's see how I prepared it---
Ingredients:
| Ingredients | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Chickpeas | 1 bowl |
| Potatoes | 4 |
| Green chilies | 5 |
| Chopped onion | 1/2 cup |
| Tomato sauce | 2 table spoons |
| Salt | 1.5 table spoons |
| Turmeric powder | 1 table spoon |
| Red chili powder | 1 table spoon |
| Cumin and mustard paste | 2 table spoons |
| Cumin powder | 1 table spoon |
| Panch Phoron (five-spice blend) | 1/3 table spoon |
| Garam masala powder | 1/3 table spoon |
| Mustard oil | 5 table spoons |
| Water |
Methods for making recipe:
Step: 1
First, I will take the dried chickpeas in a bowl and soak them in plenty of water overnight, for about 12-14 hours. As a result, the chickpeas will swell up.
Step: 2
Next, I will peel the potatoes and cut them into small pieces. Then I will wash them with water.
Step: 3
Now, I will place a clean pan on the stove over medium heat. Then I will add oil to the pan, followed by panch phoron (five-spice blend) and chopped onions. After lightly frying the onions, I will add the tomato sauce to it.
Step: 4
Now I will prepare all the spices together. I will chop the onions and green chilies. Then I will take the powdered spices in the required quantities and make a mixture with a little water.
Step: 5
Next, I will add the powdered spice mixture to the fried onions. And I will also add the green chilies.
Step: 6
Now I will sauté all the spices together.
Step: 7
Now, add the drained chickpeas to the sautéed spices. Then add the chopped potatoes and mix them well with the spices.
Step: 8
Next, cover the chickpeas and potatoes with a lid and let them cook for a while.
Step: 9
Once the potatoes and chickpeas are about 50% cooked, add the required amount of water and salt to taste.
Step: 10
Now, when the potatoes and chickpeas are fully cooked, take out some of the cooked potatoes in a bowl and mash them.
Step: 11
Then add the mashed potato paste to the curry, and finally add cumin powder for a nice aroma and flavor.
Last Step:
After that, let the curry simmer for a little longer. Finally, transfer it to a serving dish.
Final Presentation:
Now the recipe is ready to be served. It is a very delicious recipe, which tastes great when eaten hot with puris, rotis, or parathas.
| I hope you will like my recipe post very much. I will be back again with a new post later. Until then, everyone stay well. May God keep everyone healthy. |
