The diary game: A Busy Day of Duty, Family, and Small Farming Chores
I had to get up early in the morning as I had to go to the office due to district orders, and I needed to be there on time. I quickly got up, performed ablution, and went for morning prayers, starting my day by establishing a divine connection, embracing peace, and staying positive throughout the day. After offering prayers, I returned home. It was time for breakfast, and I helped my mother in the kitchen for some time. After having breakfast, I got ready for the office and left, taking a shortcut route that took only 20 minutes to reach.
This time, I had to reach Sheikh-ul-Alam Convention Centre, as we had a meeting with officials from other departments. Upon reaching there, I got into my work as my colleague had also arrived. We started our work without waiting for the meeting to begin, aiming to finish some portion of our tasks beforehand so that we could feel relieved later. We continued working till 4 PM. These days, a lot of pressure is being put on employees and officials to complete assignments within a few days. We are updating mutations and transactions that have taken place in the revenue records, which need to be digitalized and made available in the public domain electronically.
During the day, I had a special lunch, as my colleague took me to a local restaurant where we enjoyed typical Kashmiri cuisine. We worked continuously without wasting a single minute throughout the day, and at 4 PM, I left for home. On my way back, I visited my cousin who lives in a village along the route. I stayed there for some time, as he didn’t let me leave quickly. My aunt offered me tea, and I couldn’t refuse, especially since it was tea time. In Kashmir, having tea around 4 PM has become more than just a habit—it is a part of the lifestyle.
After spending some time with my cousin, I left and headed back home. From the village, I again took a shortcut route, which provided a good alternative to the longer road. Upon reaching home, I had some farming work to do. I had sown blueberry seeds in a container, and it was time to water them and observe their growth. However, they don’t seem to be growing yet and will take some more time. Farming activities are at their peak these days, and I also had to spray pesticide on the newly grafted trees.
Later in the evening, I went to one of my uncle’s homes to get milk. After returning, I read history for some time, had dinner, and then went to sleep, bringing an end to my day.
Thank you.
