The first thing I try to do at the start of a new month is to buy and organize all the necessary groceries and supplies. This helps reduce the stress of having to shop repeatedly throughout the month. Additionally, purchasing essentials right at the beginning makes it easier to manage the household budget according to plan.

So, after having lunch, I decided to head out in the late afternoon. It has been quite hot lately; in such sweltering weather, going out later in the day is far more comfortable than venturing out at noon, as the air is cooler and moving around is much more pleasant. After leaving home, I first went to the New Market intersection. There are several street-side food stalls there offering a variety of delicious snacks like jilapi, piyaju, beguni, and aloo chop. The area around the stalls was quite crowded, so I decided not to buy anything there and instead headed towards Riazuddin Bazar.

First, I went to a shop in the dry goods section of the market and purchased the necessary groceries for the month. However, carrying those items along while shopping for vegetables would have made the bags too heavy, so I left the groceries at the shop and headed to the vegetable market instead. Riazuddin Market offers a wide variety of vegetables, often at comparatively lower prices; however, vegetable prices have risen significantly of late. Even the price of my favorite vegetable, eggplant, has reached around 150 Taka per kilogram. Consequently, managing everything within a budget while doing the monthly shopping is becoming increasingly difficult.

After finishing my vegetable shopping, I headed to the fish market. Riazuddin Market offers a wide variety of fish ranging from small and large saltwater species to pond-reared and river fish. However, the current high prices of river fish make it quite difficult for middle-class families like ours to afford them. So, keeping my budget in mind, I ended up buying some pond-raised fish instead. Managing purchases according to the family's needs while staying within the budget is the top priority right now something that often requires us to make certain compromises.

After finishing all my shopping, I took a rickshaw back home. Upon arriving, I felt quite hungry and physically exhausted, so I didn't feel like preparing any snacks. I had apples and guavas at home, so I neatly cut them up and ate them. Afterward, I rested for a while.
