Scientists Scanned A 1000-Year-Old Statue And Discovered The Unexplainable Inside

We are able to get the lucky chance from ancient artifacts to learn about other cultures and ways of life. When this ancient statue was scanned recently, a jaw-dropping discovery was made. This appears to be a typical Buddha statue from the 1100 A.D. period, but the contents surprise even seasoned historians.

It’s hard to believe, but the remains of an ancient Buddhist from ancient China were found in this statue! Before it was placed in a museum in the Netherlands, a full CT scan was done on the artifact, and the monk’s remains were found inside.

The remains belonged to a Buddhist master known as Liuquan. He was a member of the Chinese Meditation School.

Did we forget to mention that all of the monk’s vital organs were removed and replaced with slips of paper with Chinese characters on them?

It’s believed that Liuquan chose to mummify his own body, since it was a common practice during that time period.

Some records claim that these Buddhist monks starved themselves purposely to make themselves into mummies.
