Chief Anthony Enahoro moved a motion in 1953 that Nigeria should have their independence in 1956.The Northern leaders moved against the motion and the motion was defeated and these resulted in a strained relationship between the Northern and the Southern political leaders.

The defeat of the motion angered the Lagos crowd and they reacted against the Northern political leaders by booing and jeering them in Lagos after the adjornment on march 31,1953.

The (AG PARTY) is for the Yorbas, (NCNC) is for the Igbos,and they both agreed to the self independence,while (NPC), which is for the Hausa’s disagreed to it.

As time goes on the AG and NCNC sent some people to the Hausa’s for campaign and when the Hausa’s heard of these,they butchered and killed them all and these lead to roit which lasted for 4 days.

Ghana was the first British West African Country to get independence,and their independence aroused the zeal of the Yoruba’s and the Igbo’s to fight for their self government.

The East and Western region got their self government in 1957, and the Northern region got their semi-autonomy self government in 1959, and they all got their general independence in 1960.These history also relates to the indepence of Nigeria.
