What You Didn't Know About The Solid South
It came to my surprise that in 1870 the first black congressman was elected to office. Hiram Rhodes Revels served in the United States Senate representing the state of Mississippi. He was born a freeman in North Carolina and moved to Ohio where he was able to vote and eventually become elected to office. Joseph Rainey was the second black congressman in the United States and the first black person to be elected to The House of Representatives. Rainey was also elected in 1870. The interesting thing to me was that they were both Republican. Today the majority of the African American vote goes towards Democrats.

If you take a deeper look into history, you'll see that the democrats swept the south for 100 years until the 90s. The democrats ended up taking over a lot of the southern state legislatures and worked hard to promote white supremacy. During this time The Democratic Party put laws into to place to suppress black rights. If we fast forward to 2016, liberals are seen as the saviors of poor and black communities. The truth is it has always been liberal policies that have destroyed those same communities.
The democrats pushed a racist agenda in the south and then somehow in the 1990's the coin flipped and the south became republican. Some democrats have infiltrated The Republican Party. From that point on The Republican Party has been portrayed as racist. When we learn history, we don't hear the facts, we are taught bias opinions on history. How is it that such a racist party would allow black people to join it in the late 1800s? I think we've been duped. When the United States abolished slavery a majority of republicans passed it, while a lot of democrats voted against it. The Republican party has always been the anti-war party until recent times. But today, we don't see much difference in either party, they both follow the same policies. If we compare the original ideologies we can see that republicans have much better track records.
The Solid South, southern states unanimously giving support for The Democratic Party
I find it extremely interesting how the public has been deceived to believe liberal and progressive policies are going to give us a better life. It has never worked anytime in history. The more power you allow the government to have, the more they will continue to take from you. The reason we don't learn these things is because The Department of Education was created by The Democratic Party and was put in place to instill liberal values into the minds of our children. Republicans opposed The Department of Education, but could never dismantle it and eventually voted to fund it. We need to re-educate ourselves on United States history because we've forgotten so much.
the amount of lies that we've been told is so pervasive as to be almost absolute. thank you for this shot of truth. as soon as we educate ourselves, it will be the simplest thing in the world for us to join together as the american people and stop all this division and madness.
Very true! As of about a century ago, the KKK could rightly be described as the militant wing of the Democrat Party.
The change was a long time coming, and arguably was prompted by a large majority of black voters (at least in the free North) voting for Franklin Roosevelt to support the New Deal programs. It continued under Harry Truman, who ordered the armed forces desegregated, and led to a Democrat Party that was stuck together by an arms-length alliance until the 1960s.
