Its name Aloe is derived from the Arabic word "alloeh" which means "bitter." This name was given to aloe because of its juice, which has a bitter taste. Vera in Latin means "real".

The Aloe Vera plant is an attractive succulent with thick, variegated leaves that fan out from its center base.

Aloe vera contains 75 potentially active constituents: vitamins, enzymes, minerals, sugars, lignin, saponins, salicylic acids and amino acids.
