You're right regarding the attempts to revive hidden knowledge/science. Sadly the control mechanisms slap it back underground whether it be government or religious institutions only for it to rise again.
Hopefully the truth of our creation/existence/future will be revealed once and for all during our lifetimes. I'm sure it will be the most fantastic topic to study once it's out there for all to see. Those who came before us and failed in their endeavours to educate the masses deserve no less than our best efforts.
