Oddly enough, I think we’re closer than ever to making the idea of being a full time “employee” of the Steem blockchain a reality. In the bull market, it was easier to say that in terms of $ because each upvote was worth so much. But that was really the only way to earn — curating or authoring for STEEM rewards.
Now there are hundreds of token rewards pools with the tribes and coming SMTs. There are also apps like Splinterlands and Actifit with different ways to earn. This place looks a lot different today than it did 2 years ago at this same time. The price going up will cause an exponential shock to the system as new users flood in and existing users amplify their past rewards.

I agree with you completely. The fact there are so many different options is only growing the number of tokens they pull in. @dalz had a great post about what is taking place on here and how the early adopters benefit.
