I can't say how much it would effect me as I ignore all those ads anyway. I see them pop up for items I searched/shopped for but for the most part I've already bought the item so I wouldn't be interested in their ads if I already had. If I hadn't I don't click on those side bar ads because you often don't know where they will lead. It may say shop so-so now but that doesn't necessarily mean it will take you to so-so site...it could lead to any number of sites. I also have a subscription to a site that removes tracking devices...sure they maybe able to get a few ads in before they are removed at a certain time each day but I find overall it works pretty well as I often don't shop online heavily anyway. Christmas time is probably the most time I see a whole lot of ads but I visit more sites comparison shopping...but chances are I've already found the bargain I am looking for so while they are busy planting ads everywhere I am already on my way to pick up my item.
