Since the beginning of the season I haven’t been able to make my usual posts on sports. A reason is academic work but I guess laziness has played its part.😭😅

I’ve found myself to be procrastinating a lot these days. Don’t procrastinate guys, it’s a very bad habit. If you have a post to make write it now and don’t waste time.

This is gameweek four of the English premier league and like always the league started with a banger. The hightlight of course is Manchester United’s humbling defeats in the gameweek 1 and 2.

Arsenal’s successes has been a positive highlight as well. And Liverpool’s zero wins in their first 3 games has been very disappointing for their high standards.

So what happened on Saturday?

How the league looks after this Saturday’s games.

Manchester United opened the Saturday games with their trip to Southampton at 11:30 am. Southampton have become somewhat an assured 3 points for the reds over recent years because no matter the form of Manchester United they get their 3 points.

The reds had just come back if a very good performance against the mighty Liverpool in a 2-1 victory to register their first win of the season. Rivals like me just knew the 3 pours against Southampton was a given after that but was still hopeful for a Southampton win.😅🤧

I must say when the game kicked off, I wasn’t surprised at all by the performance of Erik Ten Hang’s reds because we’ve seen that so many times. Manchester United will have a very good performance today against the big boys and have a very luck luster performance against one of the lower teams. It’s just become a norm for them and I love it.😂

If Che Adams didn’t miss so many clear cut chances, Southampton would probably end up with a point or all the 3 points.

Man United got their goal from a very brilliant volley by one season wonder Bruno Fernandes.🏃‍♂️😂 Man United would not want to hear this but it’s becoming very clear Bruno might have deceived us all. I can’t imagine they compared him to Kevin De Brunye and Frank Lampard.

Casamero got his debut and you could already see his quality. I must say Erik Ten Hang’s faith in center back Martinez is paying off because he has had a very good performance for the second game running. His height might not be a problem after all.🤷🏻‍♂️

5x champions league winner Casemiro

It looks like Harry Maguire might be on the bench for a while now and maybe even Cristiano Ronaldo. With the window almost closing, let’s see if Ronaldo will get his move.

Then came the 14:00 goal rush featuring Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Everton and Leeds.

Liverpool hosted newly promoted side AFC Bournemouth looking for their first win. Chelsea were looking to bounce back from their disgraceful defeat to Leeds while Manchester City were hoping to put their draw against Newcastle behind them. Leeds hoped to build on their win and Everton hoped to get a win.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth kicked off and in less than 5 minutes Liverpool scored 2. Everyone knew it would be an easy day for the reds but not this easy. However, if Arsenal could make Bournemouth look like academy lads then they were no match for the mighty reds playing at Anfield.

I didn’t watch the game cos I was focused on the Chelsea Vs Leicester game and maybe it was a mistake.😅 It was just goals after goals. Klopp and his reds registered Liverpool’s biggest ever Premier league by winning 9 goals to nil.

Roberto Firmino scored 2 and assisted 3

Even Southampton trolled Bournemouth on twitter because they also lost 9 nil to Manchester United last season.😂 These days when you see club accounts trolling, you have to verify it’s the official page of the club before you disgrace yourself. I checked and behold, it was the official page of Southampton FC trolling AFC Bournemouth.

Liverpool might get a midfielder before the window shuts since Klopp admitted himself he was wrong and everyone else was right. Let’s see what happens. I would want them to strengthen and give City a title challenge to the wire again.

Chelsea hosted Leicester City at Stamford Bridge looking to bounce back. Brendan Rodgers and his boys have been all over the place and we’re looking for a win. Before the game, multiple journalists reported a deal between Leicester and Chelsea was in place for the transfer of Wesley Fofana who made it clear he wanted to join the blues.

Before the confirmation of the transfer he was left out of the squad and left to train with the U-21s.

The game kicked off and Chelsea was in total control of the game. Ruben Loftus Cheek got a good chance early on to give Chelsea the lead but failed to capitalize.

Connor Gallagher who got his second chance after a bad performance the previous week gave a silly foul away and got booked. At this point all the boys I was watching the game with knew a red card was incoming. I love the guy but I knew he wouldn’t escape the red.😂

Minutes later, my man made a silly tackle and got the inevitable. Everyone knew he would get send off when the tackle went it.

Surprisingly, being down to 10 men Chelsea still controlled the game for the remainder of the first half and I must admit Leicester have never looked so poor and lacking of ideas.

Mason Mount was subbed off for Cesar Azpilicueta since he wasn’t in the game at all.

Summer signings Marc Cucurella and Raheem Sterling combined to give Thomas Tuchel and the blues a deserved lead at the start of the second half. Sterling did exactly why he has been trusted by Thomas Tuchel and took a chance. It’s something the other attackers fail to do which is very frustrating.

Sterling got the ball and from outside the box, he curled one into the top corner. A very nice way to get his goal premier league for his new club. 💙

There was another chance that followed soon after from Reece James. He took a powerful shot that hit the cross bar. At this point I must admit Reece James is probably the best Cobham has produced. He’s too good.

Raheem Sterling

Sterling got a chance to double our lead but was unlucky to get his shot off the post. However he couldn’t be denied his second goal after a got a tap in at the back post from a pitch perfect Reece James low cross.
He made no mistake and made it 2-0 to the blues.

The foxes replied via a beautiful strike from Harvey Barnes beating Edouard Mendy at his near post. Chelsea were under pressure throughout the remainder of the game and were certainly lucky to escape with all 3 points.

With the signing of Wesley Fofana, we’ll no longer see Reece James at right center back and hopefully we get to see him use his full potential at right wing back. 🤞

Manchester City after first half was 2-0 down to Crystal Palace. I wasn’t surprised since Palace have become a boogie team to Pep. However that joy didn’t last long since City ended up wining 4-2 and Erling Haaland getting his first hat trick for his new side.

Erling Haaland, hat trick hero

I think it puts questions to bed about if he suits the system🤷🏻‍♂️. There’s no doubt he’ll score goals but I can’t help but feel he’ll be frustrated by how they play.

48962AE2-3D37-4EDD-97D9-C2C66C785ACD.png

Everton drew 1-1 with Brentford after taking the lead via Anthony Gordon. Leeds United lost 1-0 to Brighton.

At 16:30, Arsenal hostel Fulham at the Emirates. Arsenal played their usual composed football but couldn’t capitalize on the chances they created.

It was Fulham that got the first goal in the second half from a Gabriel howler. He was disposed by Mitrovic and Mitrovic made no mistake. He put his side ahead.

Arsenal kept on pushing and got their equalizer through . They kept on pushing till Gabriel put them ahead from a corner kick. He must have had a huge sigh of relief.😅

That 2-1 win makes it 4 in 4 for Mikel
Arteta’s Gooners👏 . Where the Arteta doubters at?🧐 It remains to be seen if they can keep this momentum when they play 3 games in a week later on in the season.

But after Saturday’s games the big takeaways from me is that, Chelsea need at least a new midfielder, Liverpool need their mojo back and City aren’t impenetrable. It’s clear their going to have scoring loads of goals now.

Arsenal are on fire and Leicester need new arrivals desperately. Everton and Frank Lampard need to re group and look at their squad. Brentford will be fine and AFC Bournemouth will probably get relegated. Leeds will be ok too in my opinion.

Southampton switching to a back 4 looks like a good thing.

Manchester United have so much work to do. Getting just Casemiro in isn’t going to be enough. They lack a squad depth. In my option, ripping Anthony Martial’s contract might be a good idea. He can’t be depended on even as a squad player.

Please leave your comments. Thank you.

This is a great review. All the big teams won their Matches. Even though it was a struggle for team like Manchester United, the three points matters a lot.

Congratulations to all the players and coaches of these teams.
Great review from your end.

Thank you for your kind words. Man United struggled but they won and it hurts me. I don’t like to see them winning.😏

Great review 🔥🔥

Thank you.

The most amazing thing was that Salah played the full 90 minutes and don’t even manage an assist. Crazy!

Before the Southampton match, I read that Martinez had won every aerial duel he’d been in. Admittedly, I think the total was 1.

And wasn’t Sterling’s 1st goal a massive deflection which looped up into the corner? That was my impression when I saw it.

More importantly, Reading are top of the Championship 🥳

I can’t believe I didn’t capture Salah’s fpl disaste 😂.
I haven’t got him in my fpl this season and I haven’t regretted my decision yet.

I read that Martinez had won every aerial duel he’d been in. Admittedly, I think the total was 1.

That’s crazy. He’s been good but the United fans are eager to prove us wrong that I’m surprised after all that noise, he’s been in just 1 aerial duel.

Sterling’s first did take a deflection but I doubt it was a massive one.👀😂

Sheffield is coming for Reading.🏃‍♂️

Sheffield is coming for Reading.🏃‍♂️

Yep. They got us good! I can't believe we were top of the league - I'm still expecting us to get relegated.

Wow. What a sports analyst you are. I must recommend this is great. So far I love football but haven't find to follow up or watch match. If you would ask me. I'd no idea of the games but thanks to your post. I know how the league table is now. So surprised of . Man United recent victories. It's such a big win. Hope the recent. Transfers will work in their favour.

Thank you for your kind words. Football is interesting to watch. Make time to watch one and I’m not sure you’ll regret it.

It’s a roller coaster of emotions. Just ask the Arsenal fans if they fear to get their hearts broken?😂😅

Great one! The wins shop was wat motivated and captivating my mind here, though am not a fan to football, it's a nice write for your fan!

Thank you very much for your kind words.
