WRITING CONTEST - My favorite sporting memory | By @epirela22
Cordial greetings to everyone in the #woxsports community, pleased to be here with you again, this time I come to make an appearance in the contest of the friend @frafiomatale that deals with telling or recounting "My best sports memory".
LA FINAL DE LA LIGA DE CAMPEONES TEMPORADA 1998-1999 / THE FINAL OF THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEASON 1998-1999
UNA NOCHE MÁGICA EN BARCELONA / A MAGICAL NIGHT IN BARCELONA
We go back in time and we are not going to the 1998-1999 UEFA Champions League season, specifically the final of that season, which would be defined by the clubs of Manchester United and FC Bayern Munich in the Camp Nou stadium in the city of Barcelona in Spain.
Two clubs that were the best at that time, leaving behind teams like Juventus, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Dynamo kyiv to name a few, giving them the opportunity to advance to the final to make way for a new champion, the typical confrontation always between Germans and English now at club level would be carried out to give an additional football touch to the definition of that season.
DOS CLUBES MUY BIEN CONFORMADOS QUE VIVÍAN UN BUEN MOMENTO / TWO VERY WELL-FORMED CLUBS THAT WERE HAVING A GOOD TIME
The German club of Bayern Munich came to that fair led by the international German player and world champion Lothar Matthäus, they came from having eliminated the surprising Ukrainian team of Dynamo kyiv in a very disputed series, they were well structured, like any good German team, strong in all its lines and that in that game would show once again that they were made, only being overcome in the end as a result of fatigue or that they were already confident of having won the victory, by a character that we will talk about later.
On the other hand, we had the English team of Manchester United, who were led mainly by their coach Sir Alex Fergunson, who in turn had players like Peter Schmeichel, Ryan Giggs and a very young David Beckham in their squad, they would manage to put together a good group. of English players to eliminate in the preliminary phase a very strong Italian team like Juventus in a sensational second leg to achieve and show what they would be capable of doing to win the title.
EL DESARROLLO DE UN PARTIDO QUE CULMINO EN ALGO TRASCENDENTAL Y MUY INESPERADO / THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PARTY THAT CULMINATED IN SOMETHING TRANSCENDENTAL AND VERY UNEXPECTED
It was a much-anticipated match for both fans, I remember that like every final the expectation was great, it was played on a very wide field as the Camp Nou is characteristic for its dimensions, and perhaps that influenced a little for its development, stadium very different from Old Trafford and the former Olimpico de Munich, former headquarters of FC Bayern Munich, had not passed 5 minutes of the game when the player Mario Basler after having taken a free kick product of a play that was called a foul on the edge of the area minutes Before, he would kick the ball in the strategic direction of the barrier and manage to put the ball into the back of the net at the opposite post of the goal defended by Peter Schmeichel in order to advance the German team 1 goal for zero.
All this would lead to the match becoming closed for each of the clubs, lengthening the match with that advantage on the scoreboard by the Germans of 1 goal for zero, until the final stages of the match, the end of the match , and already about the hour when everything seemed that the German team would keep the cup Teddy Sheringham who had entered in the middle of the second half to reinforce the English attack specifically at minute 91 after a corner kick and after a shot from his partner inside the area Ryan Giggs, Sheringham manages to introduce the ball to the back of the net to tie the match in a dramatic way. Remember the character which I told you later we would talk about him.? Well, the time has come, the name of him.? Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who also came on as a substitute, would turn out to be a success for Sir Alex Fergunson, also becoming an unexpected hero for all, taking advantage of the fact that the German team was still surprised by the tie in the match, another corner kick would occur, this one came at the head of Sheringham, who in turn takes the ball in the direction where Solskjær is and he is in a matter of seconds and very quickly manages to put the ball into the back of the net to give him the definitive, dramatic and sensational advantage to the English group and consequently the title to the Red Devil.
CONCLUSIÓN / CONCLUSION
Those 2 actions by the English team after 2 precisely charged corner kicks by the then very young David Beckham were considered as part of the greatest comeback in Champions League finals, thus proving that no advantage is certain. , and that the game is not over until the final whistle is blown, also demonstrating that 2 minutes could do many things, it should be noted that from that comeback, when the games reach those final instances with that drama and with that goal difference always, whether it's the television soccer announcers or the fans, they bring to memory these 2 historic minutes that marked a match, a final forever and to remember for many years.
Invito a @dorjonaf y a @joseantpp a que se unan al concurso y participen..
It is a clear fact that it is one of the greatest come back but more precisely if you ask me it is the greatest. I doubt if this come back in the champions league will happen again.
Your write up is extraordinary and I love every aspect of it.
Let's talk sports @sports360
Greetings friend, yes indeed it is difficult for it to happen again, but it is always latent when a team is down with that marker and opens the possibilities or encourages them to go on the attack in search of such a feat because it already happened, there is a precedent , that is not impossible, thanks friend for reading.
I still remember watching the end of this match, where I was and who I was with. There's a British commentator (Clive Tyldesley - the most annoying commentator on the planet) who still mentions it whenever Man Utd are losing with a few minutes to go (which is very frequent).
Congratulations!
