🏆 Change to Fantasy Sports Prizes
As the fantasy football season draws to a close, I've been thinking a lot about the prizes and the STEEM that I've been giving away throughout the season. Whilst I want to support the Steemit community with great contests and great prizes, it pains me to see so many of the prizes that I've awarded being withdrawn and so many within the Sports community powering down.
I appreciate that what users do with the STEEM that they earn is their choice, in the same way that it is my choice as to what I do with my STEEM and the prizes awarded. This has led me to make the following decision:
Prizes will no longer be awarded as liquid STEEM and instead will be awarded in the form of delegations
These delegations will be awarded without the need to claim the prize and will remain in place whilst the winners remain active on Steemit. Once a winner becomes inactive for 3 months, the delegation will be removed.
I believe that this is an important change to ensure longevity and a strong Fantasy Sports community here on Steemit going forwards.
Prize Increases
This also has the benefit of allowing me to increase the weekly prizes, safe in the knowledge that this account has over 4,000 Steem Power to fall back on as well as the power held by @the-gorilla.
These changes will take effect immediately and include the following changes to ongoing contest prizes:
Fantasy F1
The prize will increase to a 20 STEEM delegation for the top points scorer for each race.
Fantasy Premier League (FPL)
The prize will increase to a 20 STEEM delegation for the top points scorer for each Gameweek.
La Liga Fantasy Marca
The prize will increase to a 20 STEEM delegation for the top points scorer for each Gameweek.
Fantalive Serie A
A new 20 STEEM delegation for the top points scorer for each Gameweek is being introduced (effective immediately).
This is a sub-profile of @the-gorilla
Daré mi opinión personal y 100% sincera como siempre he intentado hacerla…
I appreciate your opinion and a part of me shares it.
The difficulty is with this update that I made 4 months ago where I say:
I have continued to transfer prizes as liquid STEEM but unfortunately, I'm still transferring STEEM to people leaving the platform and one user who has done well hasn't posted for 2 months and is 100% powering down. In my opinion, this makes them ineligible for the final prizes but this opinion could be considered as subjective so I want to remove any ambiguity and treat everybody the same. Another example is the current leader of UCL (the one which isn't me) - he hasn't been active for 4 months now.
Since starting these contests, I want every decision that I make to be for the good of the entire community - long term. Knowing that prizes are leaving the platform doesn't achieve this. When I look around at the sporting community on Steemit, it feels like it's getting smaller with each week that passes.
I should probably have gone further in my update 4 months ago but things have changed even more since then. (With a few exceptions) it feels as though the sporting community has powered down. A huge proportion of the prizes I've distributed have left the platform. If I "allow" another 200 STEEM (for example) to leave the platform between now and the end of the season, that's 200 STEEM that won't be upvoting anybody's content.
Every decision feels wrong.
I've tried to be very careful with checking people who have entered - having done a lot with @endingplagiarism, I had a good idea of what to look for with entries and there were a few that tried to enter multiple teams. And then they thought it was unfair when I banned all of their teams and didn't let them keep one!
Unfortunately, there's a lot of people on Steemit who are intent on "cheating". Some even openly admit it and see it as a game, trying not to get caught. I sometimes wonder if any of the new accounts in the Newcomers' Community are genuine 🤷♂️
We do our best, that's all we can do 🙂
A wise decision. I really liked it. So the prizes will definitely work for the community.
Thanks 👍 I'm a bit nervous about doing it so late in the season but more than 3/4s of the prizes distributed have been withdrawn 😟
I'm thinking that next season, I'll delegate most of @fpl-gorilla's Steem Power in prizes over the course of the season. Which should see about 4,000SP redistributed 🙂
Can you explain this in more detail please? I see that you post this a lot and I would like to understand before this is considered as spam. Thank you in advance.
