Off To A Winning Start
Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have set such a standard in the Premier that losing your first game of the season almost makes it look like you've lost the title race even before it began and that is why it was important that we got all three points in our first game.
Wolves didn't really look like a threat, not even on paper as they are yet to win away at Arsenal for decades and despite their resilience in the opening exchanges, it was only a matter of time before we cut them open.
Who best to get Arsenal's first goal of the campaign than Kai Havertz. As a matter of factly, when most of the Arsenal players were asked who would score the team's first goal of the season, majority went for him and Saka, and boy was it great to see the German open the floodgates. A great confidence booster that should be for him for the season.
And maybe an Arsenal performance would be almost incomplete without contribution from Bukayo Saka. Setting up Havertz's goal and then scoring a beauty of his was a perfect afternoon for him as well. I was more pleased because I had him in my FPL team and it took not having Haaland to keep him and Salah. Glad both paid off.
Although we had an overall good game, a perfect start to the season, Partey and Zinchenko were a bit off the team's wavelength. While Zinny's defence fragility had always been known, I'm afraid Partey was too off his game. Maybe a match is too early to judge, but there are also concerns within the team that he's not progressing as expected. This, perhaps, could be the reason the Merino deal would be finalised soon and he'd have to make room.
Three points and a clean sheet. No better way to start the campaign.
Yes, pretty sharp performance. I took Saka at my team very last moment. Glad, he paid off.
Glad it did. Saka is an FPL asset. One you almost cannot do without, just like Haaland and Salah. Still looking for a way to bring Haaland in 😂
I may have to sacrifice one of the former. 😔
A comfortable win. This weekend's match should be a much sterner challenge.
