REAL MADRID WIN SUPER CUP FINAL AGAINST FRANKFURT

I wouldn't say I expected the match to be easy but I did expect real Madrid to win the match. I've counted the days and waited for real Madrid to play in a competitive match for so long and it finally arrived.

As Don Carlo has been saying way before the super cup final; the players who started and won the champions league final against Liverpool were the same players who were gonna play against Frankfurt in the super cup final. As usual, we had a mini Jr and Benzema partnership.

The game started quite well for real Madrid. As expected Madrid was able to play their one-two passes to each other. Pass the ball Between the small spaces and dribble past players. The only missing thing was a shot(not even a shot off target in the 10 minutes)

After the first 10 minutes, Frankfurt found their rhythm. I for one was surprised at the way this played. I expected them to not hold the ball but physical and challenge the real Madrid players for the ball. They allowed Madrid a lot of time on the ball. Within the 20th minute, Frankfurt had a chance but the shot was played directly at Courtois( it wouldn't have counted though as it was offside)

I was glad shots started coming out in the game. Frankfurt had another chance to score; this time around the player was onside. It was Feland Mendy who caused it in the middle of the park. He wanted to dribble past 2 Frankfurt players but unfortunately for him, they stole the ball away from him. Frankfurts Kamada was played in with a sleek through ball but he couldn't finish his chance. Courtois was able to predict where he would play the ball and he went to it.

After their chance real Madrid started getting chances. Benzema was played in on goal by Valverde to which he laid the pass on for Vini. He managed to beat the keeper but a defender was able to make a goalline clearance. After that chance, Vini had another beautiful effort which was saved by the keeper this time around which resulted in a corner.

This corner was what Madrid used to score their opening goal. The ball was played into the box. Benzema tried heading towards goal but his effort came off a Frankfurt defender, Casimiro tried his best and headed it back to Alaba who was left free in the box to which he finished the ball into an empty net.

The second half was not different from the first half. Just that Frankfurt had a few chances which were not dangerous. As usual, the Vini Benzema duo had to get on the scoresheet.
In the 65th minute, Vini played a beautiful pass to Benzema who was standing at the edge of the box to finish off with a shot at goal.

At this point, the game was done and dusted as there was no way Frankfurt will come back from this. Real had chances to make the game 3 or 4 nil but they couldn't. In the end, Frankfurt will be happy they were not disgraced by Real Madrid.
