Are you sure it is the correct order to attract users first and figure out how to support developers second?
It appears the lack of developers will turn away many users
I was hopeful for this campaign before yesterday. The api node having issues for so long changed my mind. It looks like infrastructure and development talent should be priority over user recruitment

Yesterday's issue was more about time difference and communication.
It happened while many witnesses (including me) sleeping, and we currently do not have a very smooth communication path with steemit dev team so it took a while to get the issues attended. When they started looking at it, fix came quick.
However, your suggestion do have a point that (1) it took too long (for whatever reason) and (2) lots of previous developers are left.
We are currently working on how to resolve this issue by funding/encouraging devs to work on various aspects of steem.
