Finally setup a backup witness node on NUC-8 (steemd on Ubuntu24.04)
I’ve finally set up a backup witness node, which is now running nicely in my shoe drawer. The Beelink NUC-8, originally installed with Windows 11, was purchased about 4.5 years ago (on Amazon) —for me first, and then for my sons. Since they each have a MacBook Pro, the NUC-8 had been sitting idle in my drawer for quite some time.
I’ve now installed Ubuntu 24.04 on it and am using the justyy/steem:ubuntu24.04 image. It will serve as both a backup witness node and a test environment for running Steemd on Ubuntu 24.04.
It’s worth noting that the NUC-8 connects via Wi-Fi to my Deco mesh router, as it doesn’t have an available Ethernet port. Fortunately, it’s very close to the access point—just above the shoe closet, less than a meter away.
