Machine Specs

• 8 vCPU Cores
• 30Gb RAM
• 800Gb SSD

The node is hosted in Germany at Contabo.

Thanks to @michelangelo3 for putting us onto Contabo; very satisfied with them so far, and I can confirm that a machine of this relatively cheap spec (as compared to a dedicated server) would also work fine as a witness node.

Remember you can build your own seed node too, by following our Zero to Witness tutorial and stopping after Part 7. Alternatively, you can go the whole way through and become a witness yourself!

Fast block source for new Contabo installs

PRO TIP! If you have a fresh node which you're bringing up on Contabo Germany, try removing every p2p-seed-node from your config.ini apart from ours:

p2p-seed-node = seed.steemwow.com:2001 # @steemwow

This will allow our seed to feed you delicious blocks at breakneck speed, because the traffic never needs to leave the Contabo network. Of course, once synced you should re-add all the other nodes.
