BEST Restaurant in Galle Fort | Pedlers Inn Cafe
When I saw movies about Paris I was amazed by how people enjoyed eating food on the Paris streets. They would eat for hours laughing, singing making us want to go to Paris. Well, we Sri Lankans could experience the same maybe even better at Galle fort. Most of us would wander around the fort when we visit Galle Fort, but the true beauty lies in the streets of Galle Fort.
The best time to visit would be around 6 pm when the sun sets and the streets are getting darker. What would be different to Paris is these streets got a slight sea breeze mixed with its vibe. The streets are carpeted with interblocks and looking ahead you see Paris inside Galle Fort. The houses and buildings have the British look in them. The streets are not filled with Vehicles. The most beautiful street out of them would be Pedlers street. It's mostly due to the Pedlers Inn restaurant with chairs on the street with candles on the table, an old morris minor car parked in front, and the beautiful lights on the hoods of the restaurant.
The place is a popular restaurant especially among the tourists as you could see a lot of positive reviews on Trip Advisor. You could either choose to eat in the streets or eat inside. Both places have their unique vibe to them. I would prefer eating on the streets for dinner and on the inside for lunch. The inside of the restaurant has an indoor garden and the candles create a magical environment to relax and eat.
The best part of this restaurant is its food. A lot of varieties to choose between and each has its unique taste to them. I usually start with a cappuccino. My personal favorite main dish is Chili Pepper Chicken with Mushroom. The platter comes with some salad and rice with it. The taste is so unique and it is a balanced diet if you are thinking about the healthiness of it. They have the best brownies I have ever tasted.
The prices are a bit high but given the environment and quality of food, it seems fair enough. If you are to visit this place try to spend some time and relax without just eating. The place has separate spaces for a group of people to eat together.

Galle fort is my favourite place. The merchant galle fort is the best restaurant I have seen.
Still I don't have experience in pedlers inn restaurant and its looks like cool.The candles arrangements is very beautiful and it makes calmly environment appetite for dinner.

I have been to both. Merchant has the better environment for sure but the food is better at Pedlers Inn. As a whole, I would still prefer Pedlers Inn over Merchant. You can try Pedlers Inn next time. I am sure you would love it.

Yes, if Nuwara Eliya known as the little England, can't think of a better similie than little Paris for Galle fort area.I have this dream to walk on peddlers street at night alone and eat alone in outside of the Peddlers Inn.

I really like this restaurant so much. I think those high prices are fair as we can get some quality time there. As well, the taste of their food is in high level. The indoor design is also beautiful and add a cool vibe.
