Remix (Music Themed 5-Minute Freewrite Challenge)

Remixes in music is very common nowadays. Back in the day, remixes might be those songs turning into more club sound. Even ballads were remixed that will suit for club plays. Pop and R&B became the thing back in 1990s through Mariah Carey's song "Fantasy", working with Puff Daddy and ODB.

First of all, Mariah may not be the first to incorporate rap and singing collaborations but the remix of "Fantasy" made it more popular especially with remixes. Even the song "Always Be My Baby", which is of the same album as "Fantasy" had a remix version too. Since that era, remixing has become part of Mariah's career.

Her album "Butterfly" was notable for the remix of her number 1 hit "Honey", as well as more urban sound. She also took the dance remix route for "My All". The remix of "I Still Believe" was very different from the original though. It went on with other remixes such as "Heartbreak", "Thank God I Found You" and even "Loverboy". Mariah Carey found friendship with rappers, and that became revolutionary with either hip-hop remixes or rap and sung collaborations.

After Mariah, other artists turned into remixing their songs, gaining popularity over the new versions of those songs, whether solo artists or even groups by inviting rappers to join in. It worked for many of them as remixes extend the popularity of those songs.
