US Market (Music Themed 5-Minute Freewrite Challenge)

Boybands may have had great success in United States, but breaking the market if you're not from the country is difficult. Even American boybands such as Backstreet Boys and NSYNC pursued European markets first before turning their attention to American market, and their attempts to achieve the top didn't happen overnight.

UK and Ireland produced globally successful boybands but never extended to American shores. Take That was very successful in 1990s, but they broke the Billboard charts during their last months as a complete group through "Back For Good". That's because the song is too good not to give a listen.

Boyzone from Ireland may have followed Take That's footsteps. They had huge success too, however, they seemed comfortable in their major markets. There has been attempts to cross the US, and "No Matter What" was a notable song. The song may not have been a Billboard Hot 100 hit, yet it was an Adult Contemporary successful single. Still, the group didn't seem to seriously focus in the US market.

Westlife came when Boyzone is about to take hiatus. The initial response in breaking the US market may have been evident when "Swear It Again" entered the Billboard top 20. Afterwards, they didn't seem to climb further. They tried to cross the US pond again, but to no avail. British R&B pop boyband Blue has the potential to break the US market too as their rise came when Backstreet Boys and NSYNC are about to go on hiatus. There are controversies which led to Blue abandoning the idea to break the US stores.
