Bireuen Regent, H. Mukhlis, ST, inaugurated and swore in 33 village heads (keuchik) from various villages across several sub-districts within Bireuen Regency on Friday afternoon (October 31, 2025) at the local District Secretariat Hall.

In his remarks, Bireuen Regent Mukhlis stated that every village policy and program should align with regional policy directions so that development can proceed harmoniously, sustainably, and favor the welfare of the community.

"The focus of development must be oriented towards strategic issues, such as improving public welfare, food security, providing access to adequate education, equitable health services, and developing infrastructure that supports the economic activities of village communities," he said.

The primary duty of a village head is to provide fair, equitable, prompt, and non-discriminatory public services. The village head is expected to provide responsive and equitable services to all residents, as well as to be a trustworthy leader with integrity.

"I also emphasize the importance of managing Village Funds. These funds must be used effectively to develop the village and improve community welfare. We have learned from various cases in other regions, including Aceh, that misuse of Village Funds can lead to legal problems. Therefore, I emphasize that Village Funds be managed with integrity, transparency, and full accountability," he said.

Furthermore, a village head must be a role model of honesty, fairness, and integrity, and be respected not because of his position, but because of his sincerity and fairness in leadership.

At the inauguration, Regent Mukhlis emphasized several hopes, including inviting everyone to build unity and harmony in the village, by embracing all residents regardless of differences in choice during the election period.

Only with unity can village development proceed smoothly and benefit all levels of society.

He also invited the village heads (keuchik) to continue collaborating with community leaders, traditional institutions, village officials, and government agencies to develop local potential and wisdom so that villages become independent, advanced, and prosperous.

"Furthermore, I remind each village to allocate a budget for the construction of decent housing for underprivileged residents as a form of social responsibility at the village level," he said.

The Bireuen Regency Government will continue to provide support, guidance, and assistance to ensure that village-level development programs align with the regional vision.

"I believe that with hard work, sincerity, and togetherness, the village heads (keuchik) will be able to bring real change to the communities in their respective villages," he hoped.

At the end of his remarks, Regent Mukhlis recited a light-hearted pantun (a poem that reads "Take a walk in the afternoon, See the grass being eaten by castration, People's money is not for personal use, Let's say no to corruption!"
