The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) of Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, through the Indonesian Religious Instructors Association (IPARI) Bireuen, implemented the 1,000 Productive Waqf Trees Movement, centered in Peuneulet Village, Simpang Mamplam District, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

This activity began with a symbolic planting by staff from the Bireuen Ministry of Religious Affairs and IPARI, before continuing with the overall tree planting. This program demonstrates the implementation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' ecotheology concept, the benefits of which can be directly felt by the community.

The Head of the Bireuen Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, Dr. H. Zulkifli SAg MPd, emphasized that productive waqf is an important step in expanding the role of waqf, not only for physical development but also to address the social and economic needs of the community.

"Through IPARI Bireuen, we are implementing the 1,000 Productive Waqf Trees Movement to ensure that waqf truly has a tangible impact. God willing, these planted trees will become a continuous charity for the waqf donors and provide long-term benefits to the community," said the Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Similarly, the Zakat and Waqf Administrator, H. Zulfan SE, emphasized that this movement also serves as a means of educating the community about the importance of productive waqf.

"Productive waqf is an important instrument in empowering the community. Through this movement, we want to raise awareness that waqf is not only a form of worship but can also be a driving force for the community's economy," he explained.

Previously, in 2024, the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Bireuen also implemented a similar movement, planting 2,000 trees on productive waqf land, which is now beginning to show positive results for the surrounding community.

Meanwhile, the Head of IPARI Bireuen, Drs. Muzakir, explained that the planting this time involved oil palm trees, sourced from endowments from religious instructors and the Bireuen community.

"We are implementing this program through IPARI, planting oil palm trees from endowments from instructors and the community. We hope that the results will provide sustainable economic and social benefits," he said.

The Head of Simpang Mamplam Sub-district, Hendry Maulana SIP MSM, who was also present, expressed his hope that the trees that had been donated would be well-maintained.

"Hopefully, these endowment trees can be well-maintained so that the endowment will receive a flow of rewards," the Head of Simpang Mamplam Sub-district hoped.

This program was welcomed by the community as a form of strengthening productive endowments, as well as tangible evidence of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' ecotheology, which provides broad benefits to the people of Bireuen.

Also present at the event were the Head of the TU Sub-Division, Iskandar SHI, the Kasi, Islamic religious instructors, Nazir and local village officials, who directly supported this productive waqf program.
