A great leader Mahatma Gandhi once said:

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

I always appreciate those people who dedicate their lives in rescuing and adopting stray dogs and cats. I know several volunteer groups in the Philippines who are actively responding to reports involving animal abuse by fostering and adopting these poor animals and I admire the people behind these groups.

I once donated my personal money to one of these groups to support their cause. I have currently 15 dogs and 3 cats under my care where several of them are adopted from the streets.

I have first hand experience how hard it is financially and physically taking care of dogs and cats. It hurts seeing stray dogs on streets specially some of them are in a worst condition that badly needed veterinary attention.

I do not have the capability to foster more stray dogs and cats because of my very limited financial resource. The worst place to be for these stray dogs is in the City Pound where they will be euthanize if not adopted within a specified period of time. For my fellow Steemians who are thinking of getting a dog, please consider adopting from City Pounds or from Volunteer Animal Foster Homes instead of buying puppies that is worth a lot of money. You are saving a life in doing such.

I am in a department store when I happen to notice this two dogs in front of Jollibee - a famous fast-food chain in the Philippines.

My being a fur parent instinct kicks in and the first thought that comes into my mind is to feed these poor dogs. I have no more food in my backpack so I went to the crew of Jollibee to order some foods I could get for these dogs and waited outside.

I get a burger and starting feeding them. I know stray dogs can be unpredictable but in my experience so far, most of them are just scared and hungry.

I slowly approach the dogs and starting to let them realize that my intention is just to give them food. At first they are hesitant to eat but I think it is normal especially that not all people are doing the same thing to them. Little by little they are eating the food that I give.

In a place where stray dogs are everywhere, the least that we could do is to offer a little kindness to them by simply giving them a piece of something to eat to fill in their stomachs. Maybe there is nothing in it to us but it is everything for those dogs wandering on the streets and trying to survive another day.

I am begging please, if you can't feed stray dogs, at least don't hurt them. It will mean a lot to them. But if you want to go an extra mile may I suggest to adopt a dog and save a life.
