As social beings, it's impossible to survive alone. We need genuine people who are willing to support is through the journey and make our lives better.
Unfortunately, this is not usually the case. You'd see someone get into a public office only to make life more unbearable than they came to see it.
Children will end to attending poorly equipped schools. Women will visit substandard healthcare systems during their pregnancies. Young people will struggle to migrate with the aim of having a greener future.
These were people appointed to manage public funds appropriately so other lives will be better. But due to their neglect, others suffer.
Life is like a vicious cycle. One kindness makes the lives of others better. But when an individual is unkind, it affects others as well.
It's our duties as humans to make conscious effort to genuinely contribute to the lives and betterment of others like that starling.
In building a career, in our country, Indonesia, and perhaps in many other countries, social connections are sometimes more crucial than integrity and capacity. Recommendations are important, but don't neglect the values of integrity and capacity.
