A great conversation all around. Arrival is a powerful and very interesting film. The concept, the adaptation, the direction, the final product all combine into a solid piece.

Loved their discussion on writer and director collaboration regarding the boarding of the space ship sequence. Simply put, Villeneuve knew it had to be a visual treat.

This script is very complicated, and it does what maybe no other film so far has tried to do in terms of linear/non-linear story structure, so it's a treat to hear the screenwriter talk out so many decisions and options that had to be worked through, the executive notes handed down and debated, the overall flow and tone of the project, etc.
