Urdu community Contest / S2W1 – Why and how Steemit social media is different and better than other social media - by weasell

Hello everyone welcome to the season two week one of the engagement challenge. New set of communities are been selected for the new season. I decided to start with this community because I can easily relate to the topic chosen due to the fact that it’s what I experience every day.

Question 1. Write about the social media you use the most daily and why is it beneficial for you or not?

Social media took the world by storm and it has become part of most people life especially does living in the urban area. There are many social media platform out there and most people often visit at least one very day. It is where we get the latest happening to keep up with the rest of the world, nobody want to feel left out so this social media has a big impact in our lives.

Personally, I use WhatsApp and Twitter every day and each has its own purpose. I use Whatsapp for communication mostly with family and friends and Twitter for education and news. Whatsapp helps to bring me closer to love once which are far way so it is the best platform to keep in touch because of its well-built message feature which makes chatting worth the time. Twitter is a platform I visit often to educate myself on some of my favorite subject such as science, engineering, history and crypto. This is due to the account I followed on Twitter who update their page based on these above subject and I can also read comment about other people reaction to that information. I also check what trending to keep up with the world.

Question 2. Why do you think spending more time on steemit than on other social media platforms can help you grow in life and benefits your life?

Steemit a not like other social media for example twitter has not rule or protocol to check for plagiarize content so you can simply copy anything form the internet and tweet on your page without source and no one has the right to question you. This reason encourage the spread of fake or irrelevant information on the platform so if the information is not sourced or from a recognized account, it need to be checked before it can be utilized. So any vital information form any social media need to be double checked to know how authentic it is.

Steemit on the other hand, takes the issue of plagiarism very seriously so the problem encounter on other social media for fake and copied content is reduced. Most community on steemit are created for a purpose of sharing original content about a specific topic or varieties of topic in line to a particular subject. The fact that steemit uses proof of brain to reward its users makes most users to be creative and coming up with great article to educate other users about that specific topic.

Me spending more time on steemit than other social media means I will visit more communities and definitely read more article and comment in various communities. By doing so, I will keep on widen my scope about the particular subjects discussed by the authors and I have learn in life that no knowledge is waste and some point in my life I will make use of what I learn from those articles. So spending more time on steemit will widen my knowledge on numerous subject and that will make me a better person.

Question 3. In the end compare Steemit with other social media platforms by talking about their advantages and disadvantages, and give examples from your personal experience.

Steemit been a decentralized social media has many advantages over centralized social media such as Twitter and Facebook likewise the other way round. Most of these advantages and disadvantages lies on the features of been decentralized and centralized.

Advantages of steemit over centralized social media.

• As said early I use steemit for more of learning by reading other users post than my other social media. Most of my knowledge about cryptocurrencies and its technology are from CryptoAcademy and Tron Fan Club communities. I know I can also learn from other social media but most times it involves payment to learn whereas, on steemit it totally free. I can also share my knowledge on known subject and sometimes, I need to do a little research to complete my article so I also learn in the process of trying to educate other users.

• The major advantage of decentralized over centralized is that they is no any central authority to censor user content. This is not the case seen on twitter, facebook and others, your account can be blocked or suspended at any time and this can be really terrifying.

• Steemit reward users who post original and helpful article, spending more time on steemit posting about relevant topics and commenting on other users post can be rewarding as your post can be voted so you earn the steemit native coins which are steem and steem dollar. For the past 6 month I have been able to accumulate 1,600 SP by powering up and working hard by posting useful content regularly.

Disadvantages of steemit over centralized social media.

• Steemit is not easy to navigate for new user as compare to centralized social media. Newcomers may find it difficult to begin their journey on this platform without the guidance of an experience user. Achievement tasks, how to calculate reward and club status may be too much for beginner to understand on their own.

• Users account are been protected with keys which are only in the hands of the user. So in any situation where those keys are lost, they is no way to recover them back and the user account and all his/her valuable are lost as well.

• If the major aim of joining steemit is to earn, this can be frustrating at times due to the fact that your earning is in form of vote receive from account with a lot of steem power so if you don’t receive support from those account, your reward will be almost insignificant which can be discouraging. This is the reason some users are complaining about vote been centralized.
