Hello, Steemian Friends!
I’m Samia Jannate from #Bangladesh.

I hope you are doing great by the grace of Allah. I’m also happy today. I'm also thankful to @anailuj1992 for arranging a beautiful contest for us. And I’m also participating in this contest with my nephew.

My nephew name is Rabiul Hasan Fahim. He is 9 years old.

We are experimenting " Creating a Rainbow with Sunlight".

For this experiment, we need some necessary material.

These materials are:

  • A clear bowl of water
  • A small mirror
  • Direct sunlight

Now I tell you the step-by-step process of this experiment:

Step:1

First, I need to gather all the materials. Also need a sunny day, as natural sunlight is crucial for this experiment. I open our window and make sure the sunlight comes to our target place, then Place the bowl on a flat surface and carefully put the mirror inside the bowl at a slanted angle. Make sure the bowl is almost filled with water. Because the water will help bend the sunlight and create a rainbow.

Step 2

Make sure the sunlight strikes the mirror through the water, which will reflect the light onto the wall. As per these instructions, I found that the brighter the sunlight, the easier it was to get the rainbow to create.

Step 3

We saw a rainbow on our wall by the reflected light coming from the mirror. Then I a little bit adjust the angle of the mirror to catch the reflection just right.

What’s Happening:

Sunlight, or white light, is created of different colors, which we don’t see normally. However, when the light passes through the water, it bends (this is called refraction) and separates into its colors—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. The mirror helps reflect these colors onto the wall, making the rainbow visible to us.

I upload this experience on my YouTube Channel

Did I Get It Right the First Time?

I didn’t get the rainbow on the first try—I tried 5 times. Perfect sunlight is needed for this experience, and I also need to set up the position of the bowl of water and mirror. The most critical part was making sure the sunlight hit the mirror at the right angle and adjusting the adjust to catch the colors.

Reactions and Best Moments

One of the best moments was when the rainbow finally appeared on the wall. The colors were so bright and clear. It felt magical like I had created my little piece of the sky.

I never imagined that I would have this experience with my nephew. This theme was chosen by him. I just stand beside him and all the steps he took.

Sources I got from this Idea

I got this idea from the YouTube channel and also analyzed this topic by reading some articles on the Google website relevant to this topic.

This experiment was inspired by general simple science demonstrations regarding light and prisms.

Note

I took this picture from my mobile. The model is my phone is Realme-C21.Also I make 2 college frames through my phone gallery option -(college frame creator ).

Thanks for reading my post.
