Birds In The snow

Birds like this cute little Junco leave Canada when the cold weather sets in and migrates to the Southern States of the U.S.





But the little chickadee doesn’t mind the snow and colder weather. I hear their song-chickadee-dee-dee throughout the seasons.

This one is sitting on the ball of the deck post at the back deck as the snow is gently falling. They like the woodland and seldom come out of the forest.





The grouse manage quite well in the snow. This one is walking across the back yard towards an apple tree.

They live in the forest all year long and I often see them in the apple trees in the fall. They love apples but also eat insects and leaves.

Although the apples are gone the ruffed grouse ( or partridge as some people call them) pick buds off the trees in winter.

The blue jays add beautiful color to the landscape when the ground is white with snow. They, along with ravens and crows are a constant visitor to my backyard throughout the year.





The Blue Jays are my best models.
