A book to re learn

in Motivation Storylast year
Hi friends of Motivation Story I confess that it has been a long time since I have written on this platform, things have happened in my life that have let me know and remember that there are countless things that I do not know, and I think it is wonderful to be able to share this new knowledge here. I want to tell you about a book from which I have gained a lot personally. I haven't finished it yet and every day I learn more from it.

The book is 12 Rules for Living, by Canadian author Jordan B. Peterson. This type of texts are not my usual reading, and perhaps that is why I have been surprised by what I have learned about myself through this reading, it is curious to realise that some situations narrated there are totally new to me, and others have been awakened, thus knowing that they were always there, like that old saying that says that things that are known are silenced and things that are forgotten are silenced.

I discovered, from the author's hand, how everyday situations that we pass unnoticed even, affect our mood and the way we present ourselves to others and how we position ourselves in life. I remembered something I already knew, how every act we perform has a physical and emotional implication in our life, organically and chemically.

I realised that I have experienced many of the things that the author mentioned, and at some point unconsciously, I behaved according to his explanations. For me they were simple actions that today I know, that were always in pursuit of emotional well-being for me, and I see logic in it, because I remember that at the time, I felt that way.

I also remembered, (because I've known this for a while), that good habits make you a more emotionally stable person, and this is where my surprise goes for things as simple as getting up at the same time (preferably early), regular eating habits, and having a routine in your daily routine of sleep, exercise, or recreation. These patterns of behaviour, even if they are fairly constant, bring a sense of stability to your life, chemically and emotionally

Personally I can tell you that about two years ago when I resigned from my job, I had moments of euphoria the first few days, feeling absolute freedom in my time and in my life, no overtime or deadlines! I was the owner of my time without a preset schedule, but after a few weeks, say a month, I felt the almost urgent need to re-organize myself and have a routine to follow, things like getting up early, having breakfast and getting ready to do my new work life from home, as this coincided with the pandemic, so I set myself schedules that I strictly followed, to sleep, eat, study and work, I really felt I needed to return to that structure, (with changes yes, but structure at last), to be able to function.

So thanks to what this reading brought me on a personal level, I understand that these habits, in my opinion healthy, stabilised me, gave me a support, from the chemistry of my body to my emotional side, it is in these situations that I am totally in tune with the explanation of these processes that the author exposes.

The author also mentions body postures, and how they can change the way other people perceive you and how others relate to you. For example, he explains that cultivating and maintaining an upright posture when walking or sitting will present you as someone who is determined and confident, who knows he deserves the best and is going after it.

These details of the reading are part of my personal appreciations about the book, when comparing them with my own life experience, and what I have felt in front of these approaches that the author manifests, of these daily situations taken to our personal life.

I invite you to read the book and to form your own opinions about it, everyone will appreciate it in a different and enriching way.
