How To Break Free From Fear: My Personal Experience
“A ship is safe in the harbor, but that is not where it is meant to be,” is an adage that I remember. Nobody is going to build a ship solely to keep it safe in port. The ship must navigate large seas and oceans while transporting supplies or passengers. If you let fear hold you hostage, you and your life will be much like the ship that is safe in the harbor. You will become gripped by dread and unable to leave your comfort zone.
You have ambitions and dreams. Perhaps you want to establish your own business, advance in your work, tour the world, or simply ask a lovely lady out on a date. However, the "what if" questions continue to ring in your thoughts.“What if my company fails?” “What if the lady declines my request for a date?” “What if I'm not good enough?” you might wonder. “What if the dream isn't something I deserve?” “What if I actually succeed?” says the narrator. Our worries have kept us from accomplishing and achieving so much that they are the leading cause of regret. If our worries keep us from being completely and totally alive, it's a terrible state of affairs.
It is stated that while danger is real, fear is not. Fear exists only in our minds in a lot of situations. We must confront our worries square on and generate the resolve to act despite them. Let me share with you a real-life experience.
When I was barely 7 years old I left my remote village of Tebakang to stay with my elder sister in Kuching so that I can attend primary school there. Although this happened almost 50 years ago, I could still recall the day I left my village in a pick-up truck on a wet and rainy day with the road flooded. I kept on telling myself that I must be brave, I must not cry as I waved goodbye to my mother who was clad in a sarong. Perhaps I was too young to really comprehend the fear of the unknown and the fear of uncertainty. But it is through education that I was able to break free from the chains of poverty and eventually managed to raised up the ranks to become a senior government officer.
Is fear holding you back from pursuing your dreams? Don't let fear imprison you, but strive to live a life full possibiities

Too often fear is our worst enemy. Thank you for your story.
You are welcome. We need to differentiate between danger and fear and also to move forward despite the fear.
