A pair of lucky socks

At 8 years old he was the fastest kid in his class. He was always a little bit slower than the second fastest kid, Ashley. No matter how many times he tried to beat her, he couldn’t. He had a couple of F1 racing socks which made him feel like he could run faster than what he was doing. But he was only allowed to wear black socks in school. He pleaded with his mom to allow him to wear the F1 socks, but she wouldn’t.

So he made up his mind to wear them underneath the black socks he was supposed to wear to school. He was shaking all over because he could be punished if he was caught. He challenged Ashley to race at recess. His heart was pounding, and by the time the teacher blew the whistle to start, he was off and running.

He ran faster than ever, passing everyone and catching up to Ashley. He came in first place and could barely believe his ears.

She said nice run, Ashley congratulated him with a smile and a handshake. Later the teacher found out about the socks during an inspection and when his mom found out, she was really pissed off and told him, it was not the socks that made him faster, because more socks made his leg not as light meaning he could do better without it, now he knows that. He just needed to practice more, and he and Ashley became good friends and got better and better at running.
