Typical Pakistani Beggar Mentality
When I first joined Steemit back in 2021, I knew nothing about the crypto market or cryptocurrency in general. All I was aware of was the existence of a coin called Bitcoin.
Over time, I started learning about crypto. When I discovered Steemit, I understood it to be a blogging platform where you could actually earn through blogging. I began my Steemit journey in April 2021. Gradually, I learned the norms of the platform and gained knowledge and skills that I hadn’t acquired from any other platform or even in school.
I started participating in the Crypto Academy and eventually became one of the most recognized students there through my work. By December 2021, I was honored as the Best Author of Steemit 2021—all within just nine months.
Why am I mentioning this? Do I want applause? Absolutely not.
The reason I bring this up is to emphasize determination. I was confident in myself, worked with integrity, and stayed committed. Sure, I may have made mistakes on Steemit, but I always gave my best effort, both for myself and for the platform.
A few hours ago, I read a comment from a highly reputable Steemit user that left me deeply saddened. The comment read: "Typical Pakistani beggar mentality." It referred to a Pakistani user accused of engaging in deceptive practices. While I’m unclear about the specifics, this statement stopped me in my tracks.
What exactly is "typical Pakistani beggar mentality"? Does this label include me—a person who is simply trying to blog, create memories, make friends, and earn money on Steemit? Would you generalize an entire nation based on one person's actions?
When I held an authoritative position on Steemit, I identified many plagiarists and farming accounts. While a number of these were from Pakistan, there were many from other countries as well. Did this lead me to degrade an entire nation? Absolutely not.
I understand there are scammers from Pakistan, but attaching a nationality tag to scammers is not an approach I support. Do you think I’m not exhausted by these bad actors who tarnish the reputation of the entire population? Do you think there aren’t users from Pakistan who uphold their integrity and values on this platform?
I believe generalizing an entire nation because of the wrongdoings of a few is not only unfair but counterproductive. The focus should be on addressing and eliminating unethical practices, regardless of nationality.
There are countless Pakistani users I know who have contributed positively to Steemit, forged genuine connections worldwide, and worked tirelessly to improve the platform. It is our collective responsibility to present a positive image of Pakistan and to combat wrongdoing through honesty and integrity.
While I have my own criticisms of Pakistan and its people, I stand firmly against generalizing an entire community for the misdeeds of a few.
I hope I was able to convey my thoughts clearly.

Dr. Huzaifa Naveed

I'm glad that he realized it but still annoyed
I don’t condone what he said, but learning that people are contacting him off-chain for votes is both distasteful and infuriating. Why would anyone stoop to that?
This is a platform where people at least know how to read and write, which implies they have some level of education and intellect. Yet, this kind of pathetic behavior persists. Where is the self-respect of such individuals? It’s embarrassing, downright embarrassing!!!

I, for one, will never defend these scammers, who unfortunately are mostly from Pakistan. I feel disgusted when I see them doing this. This isn't the first time either. I remember being associated with these scammers once, simply because I am from the same country as they are. It's honestly very depressing for me.
I don't want to single out a specific group of people, but if you dig deep, you'll find that 90% of these scammers from Pakistan have the same thing in common. @event-horizon would probably understand what I'm saying. It seems as if most of the people from that region sign up on this platform solely to scam and make money.
I can understand why people like steemchiller are visibly annoyed and make such statements. At its core, their annoyance seems justified because of individuals like these. However, generalizing an entire nation based on the actions of a few is not the best approach. We're all in the same boat, fighting against these scammers.

There can be fraudsters anywhere. It doesn't matter what country, race, or religion they are from. The person who commits fraud will always do it. Just because a few people do it, we can't say that everyone else is like that. Your opinion and the hatred you have for such users in your country are very reasonable.
I'm really sorry that my words have hurt good Pakistanis like you! Such generalizations really should not be done when talking about the misbehavour of one specific kind of person from your country. I've changed the wording in my comment now to better express what I really wanted to say with it ;)

I'm glad, mate, that you reconsidered your words. Accepting something is the first sign of showing that a person has good intentions. I'm happy we were able to clear things up. :)

Thinking in terms of nations or nationalities is so alien to me that it would never occur to me to make such a generalisation, nor would it occur to me that anyone could feel affected by it... I apologise for not responding sooner - it seemed to me... irrelevant.
