Giving Voice To The Silent || The Story Only A Book Can Tell
Hello fellow story tellers, we have come to the season where we have to give voice to the silent. This is a chance for the 'silent' to express themselves like never before...
In the Old world, inanimate objects were given a chance to tell their stories. After every 100 years, one object will be given a chance to speak, a chance to cry out, a chance to express how they have felt over the last years.
A chance came for the book to express itself after staying silent for long and this is its story;
O ye men, listen to my outburst, for I have been in the hands of Kings, Queens, princes, Princess, Duchess, Dukes, and even Mere men. I have traveled every part of the world, I have seen it all.
Out of pulp I came, made out from the best of woods, diligently carved, carefully transformed and life given to me. Just like in the first days, I was given power to record wisdom. In me are all the wisdom of the world kept. Do you have any idea the effort that was used in creating me? Why do you look down on me?
History has been preserved through me, I have been a loyal friend to man. Carrying information from one generation to another, preserving cultures and traditions...keeping decrees and even curses alive.
I have been a special friend to the humans but most times I haven't been treated fairly. I am here to table my argument so that everyone should see if what the humans have done to me is right.
I have lived a hundred years but the only time I can remember being happy is the day this great wisdom was written on me. From then on, everyone that has read the wealth of information I carry, dump me after they do so. Why do you have to neglect me for days on that dusty shelf?
I have been thrown away by many to my own fate, torn and dejected, trodden down and thrown into the waste bin. Some can't even take good care of me. How I wish you can take care of me like you do your phones. I am not taken care of like the phones you carry but I give knowledge and wisdom just like your phones. Why do you handle your phones with care but not me?
The new problem I have is the new generation, at least the old generation still sucked from the wisdom of my pages. But the new generation have neglected me. Most of them buy me but never use me, they keep me in their bags for months and even years. They fiddle their phones every moment, and they forget that they had planned to read me or write on me.
I heard also that I must go extinct so as to help the ecosystem. Everyone has to go green to help the earth from global warming. I was crying of being neglected but the new system wants to eradicate me completely.
Are my words of wisdom not enough?
Have you considered the impact your actions have on me?
Have you thought about how my emotions will be?
I would have loved to say more, but I am not given enough time to say what bothers me every day. It is better I remain silent over how I have been treated over the years.
I wish to be read everyday...I wish to be cleaned and dusted. I wish to be valued and taken care of. I wish that my array of knowledge will impact the world greatly. I wish that the human kind took great care of me.
I wish a lot of things....And this is the story only I can tell!
