Hubo una canción, que desde que la conocí en mis 20, me fascinó, más bien me embrujó. Su fantástica historia sobre la luna engendrando un hijo en una gitana, los arreglos, la música y la cadencia en la voz de la cantante, literalmente me hipnotizaban.

Mi imaginación fluía con ella, conectándome con un inconsciente familiar plagado de ritos, creencias e historias que, lo que “los que saben” llaman paganismo. Pero en mi familia era algo “común” y corriente. “Realismo mágico” llamaron los ilustrados a esa manifestación cultural donde los límites entre realidad y lo místico se desdibujaban.

En ese contexto, el que la luna llena hubiese engendrado un niño humano era posible, que esta lo arrullase desde lo alto, o bajara a verlo más de cerca, dejando el cielo sin luna por unas noches, era lo esperado.

La historia en la canción, nos presenta a una “gitana” anhelando ser amada por un hombre de su “raza” (un calé), con el cual unirse en matrimonio. Una larga noche de luna plena, clama y la luna le responde, viendo esta, una oportunidad de cumplir su mayor anhelo: un hijo propio.

Ambas acuerdan el pacto, y nace un niño albino, de ojos grises, me lo imagino casi que de piel luminosa. Hecho que desata un trágico desenlace para la pareja humana donde la gitana muere apuñalada por su marido.

A partir de allí, la luna toma el protagonismo, cabe preguntarse si ese era originalmente su plan, esta se dedica, teniendo como trasfondo, sonidos como de caja de música, cascabeles y violines, en cuerpo y alma a su hijo.

La canción “Hijo de la luna” del grupo español Mecano. Se sustenta en lo complejo del arquetipo de la mujer-madre, en aquello que es capaz de hacer una mujer por cumplir sus más profundos deseos de amar y ser amada por dos hombres: su pareja y su hijo. De la misma manera, contiene el más profundo de sus miedos: “estar sola”. Al punto de sacrificar a su primer hijo por amor de un hombre.

Donde las fases de luna pudiesen representar los cambios en su ánimo desde la ausencia total (en la luna nueva), el ir quitando poco a poco el afecto, o por el contrario irse entregando, hasta la totalidad, en la imagen de la luna llena.

Esa canción marcó mi entrada a la adultez y me abrió a conocer el alma de una mujer, representada en la luna.

There was a song that fascinated me, or rather bewitched me, ever since I heard it in my 20s. Its fantastic story about the moon giving birth to a child in a gypsy woman, the arrangements, the music and the cadence of the singer's voice literally hypnotized me.

My imagination flowed with it, connecting me with a family unconscious full of rites, beliefs and stories that "those who know" call paganism. In this context, it was possible that the full moon had engendered a human child, that it would lull him from above, or come down to see him more closely, leaving the sky moonless for a few nights, was expected.

The story in the song presents us with a “gypsy” yearning to be loved by a man of her “race” (a gypsy), with whom she would marry. One long night of full moon, she cries out and the moon answers her, seeing this as an opportunity to fulfill her greatest desire: a child of her own.

Both agree to the pact, and an albino child is born, with grey eyes, I imagine almost with luminous skin. Fact that unleashes a tragic outcome for the human couple where the gypsy dies stabbed by her husband.

From there, the moon takes center stage, one wonders if that was originally her plan, she dedicates herself, having as a background, sounds like a music box, bells and violins, body and soul to her son.

The song “Hijo de la luna” by the Spanish group Mecano. It is based on the complexity of the archetype of the woman-mother, in what a woman is capable of doing to fulfill her deepest desires to love and be loved by two men: her partner and her son. Where the phases of the moon could represent the changes in her mood from total absence (on the new moon), gradually removing affection, or on the contrary giving herself over, until totality, in the image of the full moon.

That song marked my entrance into adulthood and opened me to know the soul of a woman, represented in the moon.
