Forgive and Forget

Forgiveness is going to benefit the one who does it than the one who receives it. In the Christian scriptures, we're advised to forgive and forget. I have not really had a problem with the forgive part but I've always had a problem with the forget part.

If you're someone who keeps forgetting what was done to you, how do you learn how to avoid the situation the next time it happens to you. The point or let me say the value of mistakes and pain is to learn the lessons out of them. Every single pain you'll go through, everything anyone would do to wrong you, there's a lesson of why and how it happened to you. Forgetting that lesson is basically asking for it to happen to you again and again till you finally make a different move that prevents it from happening.

There is a contradiction that I will not overlook. Not forgetting what had been done to you kind of also looks like you are still holding on to it. I guess that's why they said forget it as well. I like to interpret it as forget the act but not the lessons from it.

If you keep memory of the hurt, your life is essentially run by trauma and guess who suffers more from that pain, you. The healing process is always a burden for you the one that was hurt to carry. I try not to wish evil to the one who hurt me. We are only human and sometimes it's natural your mind wants justice of some sort which just so you know, a lot of what we call justice is almost a glorified revenge. Certainly justice must exist otherwise chaos will however healing must happen too otherwise the one who hurt you, owns you. Your anger is a poison and it poisons only you.
