Sleepwalking and furtive trapeze artist/ Trapecista sonámbulo y furtivo
As I've said before, I don't find it easy to write long poems. I feel that poetry is like a chocolate bonbon: compact, tasty, and small, because the idea is to make us want to eat more. Perhaps that's why a box of chocolates has a variety of fillings and flavors. And as Forrest Gump said, "You never know what you're gonna get."
This is my short poem titled:
In the windows of his eyes,
a sleepwalking, furtive trapeze artist hangs.
His body leaps in the air.
I look at him and feel dizzy.
He doesn't want to throw himself into the void.
He prefers to revel in the cornea,
to drown in his gaze, in his silence,
to be a contained drop,
Not a spray of trapeze artists
Dancing on her face.

True. Nothing.

This is such a beautiful piece, @solperez. The metaphor of poetry being a chocolate bonbon is so accurate—sometimes a short, intense piece hits much harder than a long text.
The imagery of the trapeze artist choosing to be a "contained drop" rather than falling into the void is incredibly powerful. As someone who often deals with late-night work stress, I deeply relate to that feeling of balancing on the edge, holding emotions in like that single, unshed tear. Thank you for sharing this sweet piece of chocolate today!
