Contract Accounts and Externally Owned Accounts (EOAs) are the two main categories of accounts in Ethereum. While Contract Accounts store smart contracts and are managed by the code inside the contract, EOAs are controlled by private keys and represent people or organisations.

The EVM is responsible for carrying out a transaction that is sent to the Ethereum network. Transactions can be sent by EOAs to Contract Accounts or other EOAs. The EVM follows the guidelines specified in the contract code while interacting with Contract Accounts.
