The dominion of the Messianic King. Psalm 110

in HeartChurch3 years ago

Jesus is the Messianic King that the Jews to this day are still waiting for, not knowing that He has already come and they rejected Him. Psalm 110 is a revelation given to David by the Holy Spirit to show the Jews how he was to manifest himself with the power and glory that God the Father would grant him. Having completed his mission in his first coming to earth, the Messiah would sit at the right hand of God the Father to wait for the last enemy of God to be completely defeated and then God would bring back his Son Jesus Christ for the millennial kingdom. King David under divine inspiration wrote:

The Lord said to my Lord:
Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.
2 The Lord will send the rod of your power from Zion;
Rule in the midst of your enemies.
3 Thy people shall offer themselves willingly to thee in the day of thy power,
in the beauty of holiness.
From the womb of the dawning of day
Thou hast the dew of thy youth.
4 The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent:
Thou art a priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek.
5 The Lord is at thy right hand;
He shall cut in pieces kings in the day of his wrath.
6 He will judge among the nations,
He will fill them with carcasses;
He shall break the heads in many lands.
7 He shall drink of the brook in the way,
So he shall lift up his head. Psalms 110 Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960)

When Jesus first came to earth, He certainly came to be crucified and to fulfill God the Father's purpose of bringing remission and forgiveness of sins for all mankind. However, the people of Israel expected their Messiah to be an earthly king who would deliver them from the power of the Roman Empire. God in His love and mercy came to establish in Jesus a spiritual kingdom with great power to defeat the devil and his fallen angels who trouble mankind. The Lord gave His power to the church in the name of Jesus to give it power over the spiritual enemies of the Lord. Israel did not understand this purpose of God and considered Jesus a false Messiah whom they crucified and mocked, so God temporarily departed from the people of Israel to raise up a redeemed and holy people, made up of all the races of peoples and nations to constitute them kings and priests. In his death and resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven and is at the right hand of the Father interceding for all the saints who form the Lord's church. Jesus will be at the right hand of the Father until all that is prophesied in the book of Revelation about Satan is fulfilled and then he will return to earth to establish the "Millennial Kingdom."

Jehovah said to my Lord:
Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool. Psalm 110: 1

At Jesus' first coming to earth, God the Father had prepared Him to exercise His dominion and authority from Zion. Jesus' ministry was to be related to giving freedom to the captives and the sick tormented by satanic forces. The Lord had promised His Son that He would give Him all authority and dominion over His enemies. Jesus undertook a ministry of casting out demons and delivering people who had been suffering for years from demonic forces, as in the case of the Gadarene demoniac. Many Jews proclaimed Jesus as the redeeming Christ and considered him the Messiah they were waiting for. Jesus entered Jerusalem in triumph and was acclaimed as the Son of the living God, who shone in beauty and holiness. David wrote it thus:

The Lord will send the rod of your power from Zion;
Rule in the midst of your enemies.
3 Your people will offer themselves willingly to you in the day of your power,
In the beauty of holiness.
From the womb of the dawning of the day
you have the dew of your youth. Psalm 110: 2-3

Jesus redeemed multitudes with his blood to make them kings and priests before God. Today, Jesus is still seated at the right hand of the Father as a great high priest who intercedes for all Christian people. The priesthood of Jesus was very similar to that of Melchizedek, whose priesthood was superior to that of Aaron, since Abraham had given his tithes directly to Melchizedek. The priesthood of Christ is much greater, since it was likewise given as the ultimate offering of sweet odor to God for all mankind. We have a great high priest who intercedes for all of us day and night before the Father, let us as Christian people take advantage of this blessing and praise God for Jesus, who with his wounds in his hands and feet, tell the Father of his love for all of us. In Psalm 110 it is said that:

4 The LORD has sworn, and will not repent:
Thou art a priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek. Psalm 110: 4

While it is true, Jesus is today seated at the right hand of the Father, waiting for the prophetic moment of the great day of God's wrath, which will be for the end of the "Great Tribulation". God will judge all nations and gather them around Jerusalem to judge them and give them the deserved punishment for their rebellion and disobedience towards God. Jesus will come with his holy angels and will fight on behalf of Israel and strike down all her enemies. The Lord will break all the kings of the earth in His wrath and fill the earth with dead bodies. When he has finished judging the nations, then he will come and drink from the coolness of a brook by the way, as a sign that he has conquered and fought in the great day of the Lord. After all these things, the Messiah will reign for a thousand years from Jerusalem over the nations left over from the great day of God's wrath. David inspired in Psalm 110 wrote:

The Lord is at his right hand;
He will break kings in the day of his wrath.
6 He will judge among the nations,
He will fill them with corpses;
He will break the heads in many lands.
7 He shall drink of the brook in the way,
For he shall lift up his head. Psalm 110: 5-7
