The happiness and prosperity that comes from serving God. Psalm 112
What a great and overflowing joy it is to serve God and walk in his ways according to his statutes, ordinances and commandments; which generates transcendental blessings that encompass spiritual and material prosperity. In Psalm 112 the author teaches us that fearing God and walking in his commandments brings us great blessings that translate into happiness and increase of goods and wealth.
Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
and delights greatly in his commandments.
2 His descendants will be mighty in the land;
The generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3 Riches and wealth are in his house,
And his righteousness is everlasting.
4 He has made a light to shine in the darkness for the upright;
He is gracious, merciful, and just.
5 A good man shows mercy and lends;
He governs his affairs with judgment,
6 Therefore he will never slip;
He shall be a just man in everlasting remembrance.
7 He will not fear evil tidings;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
8 His heart is sure; He shall not be afraid,
Till he sees his desire in his enemies.
9 He giveth, he giveth to the poor;
His righteousness is everlasting;
His power shall be exalted in glory.
10 The wicked shall see it and be enraged;
He will gnash his teeth and be consumed.
The desire of the wicked shall perish. Psalm 112 Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960).

Happiness begins when a relationship and intimacy with God is initiated. Knowing God's love and abundant mercies leads us to examine and inquire into God's holy and perfect life through his word. The Lord's commandments perfectly teach us to fear God and to love him with all our heart, soul, strength and mind. If we want to experience true happiness in our lives, we must hasten to have a communion with God based on respect, loyalty, faithfulness and, above all, love. We must begin by inclining our ears and letting God's voice whisper in our hearts, to understand the purpose He has for each of us. Learning to delight in God's commandments will help us to prioritize what is truly most important and valuable for our lives. God must take first place in our hearts, which will also help us to grow in holy fear. It is time to do what the composer of this psalm recommends, when he says:
Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD
and delights greatly in his commandments. Psalm 112: 1

There are pleasant consequences for all those people who fear God and delight in his commandments. First, they receive God's promise that they will have a mighty offspring on earth. This means that their offspring will be the head and not the tail. Their offspring will occupy important positions in society and God will help them to be people of renown with a God-fearing heart. It is no wonder that the children of Christians come to occupy important positions in society. We must recognize that the children of people who do not fear God and occupy relevant positions in society, end up in corruption, while the offspring of the children of God, will be people of honor and respect in society with great capacity to occupy positions of rulers and kings on earth, worthy to lead the nations. We have to believe this by faith, because it is a wonderful promise from God. The descendants of the righteous will be blessed on earth and will be surrounded by goods and riches. Let us leave in God's hands the leading of our children and we will see that God's righteousness in them will make them stand forever, as it is written in this psalm:
Their seed shall be mighty in the earth;
The generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3 Riches and wealth are in his house,
and his righteousness endures forever. Psalm 2-3

When we dispose ourselves wholeheartedly to seek God and to treasure his commandments in our hearts, the Lord will cause the light of his glory to shine upon our lives and illuminate our path so that we may walk in the goodness and mercy of God. The Lord will cause all the darkness and evil in us to be removed and we will begin to shine with the light of his holiness. God is gracious and just, which will cause his love to cover and envelop those who fear his name. God's glorious light in our lives will also enable us to practice justice and mercy with our fellow men. God will cause us to rule our houses with justice and intelligence and will hold us in his everlasting arms so that we will never slip.
He has shone in the darkness a light for the upright;
He is gracious, merciful and just.
5 A good man shows mercy and lends;
He governs his affairs with judgment,
6 Therefore he will never slip;
In everlasting remembrance shall the righteous be. Samo 112: 4-6

I like this psalm very much because of its great promises of blessings for those who serve God and walk in his ways. God promises that the upright in heart will not be afraid when bad news comes, but will trust in the Lord, who is in control of everything. If enemies come into the lives of those who serve God, the Lord will deliver them into the hands of the upright and they will see their desire fulfilled over their enemies. The true children of God do justice to all those around them, they distribute, they give to the poor and God crowns them with his power. The composer of this psalm wrote it thus:
He will not be afraid of bad news;
His heart is steadfast, he trusts in the Lord.
8 His heart is sure; he shall not fear,
Till he sees in his enemies his desire.
9 He gives, he gives to the poor;
His righteousness is everlasting;
His power shall be exalted in glory.
10 The wicked shall see it and be enraged;
He will gnash his teeth and be consumed.
The desire of the wicked shall perish. Psalm 112: 7-10
