What is the faith?

Have you ever thought about the things we do every day that require faith? Riding a bus, eating at a restaurant, crossing the street, planting a seed… all of this requires a certain level of faith. But what is faith? How do you define yourself?

The Royal Spanish Academy gives us some definitions about faith. For example, he talks about faith as a set of beliefs that some person or group of people may have. Another definition it offers talks about trust, or the good concept that we can have about a person or a situation. When he defines the concept of faith in Christianity, he tells us that it is a virtue relative to theology that consists in affirming the revelation of God.
The Bible also defines faith and helps us understand what it is for. The following verses will help you get a little clearer on the concept of faith and encourage you in your walk with God.

How is faith defined in the Bible?

1-It is the certainty that we will receive something that we do not yet have

Hebrews 11: 1

As Christians, our faith is based on the certainty that God (the object of our faith) will do what we expect, in his way and in his time. We don't ask randomly like spoiled or fussy kids. We ask according to His will, basing our requests on what is pleasing to our God.

2-By faith we please God and show confidence in his promises

Hebrews 11: 6

When we say that we have faith in God we affirm that he is real in our lives and that he is the one who can grant our deepest requests and dreams. This statement pleases and gladdens the heart of our God. That faith in him confirms that we know that he has all the power to grant us what we long for today and also to give us eternal life.

3-It is the response to a real God who reveals himself to us in various ways because he longs for us to know him

Isaiah 45: 5-6

God tells us in his Word that there is no other God. But he is not left alone with words. He goes further and reveals himself to us. If we are attentive and give him a chance, we can experience his touch in our hearts and the strength that he gives us to live a life that shows that he is the Lord of our hearts.

¿Qué es la fe?

¿Alguna vez has pensado sobre las cosas que hacemos a diario que requieren fe? Montarnos en un bus, comer en un restaurante, cruzar la calle, plantar una semilla… todo esto requiere cierto nivel de fe. Pero, ¿qué es la fe? ¿Cómo se define?

La Real Academia Española nos da algunas definiciones sobre la fe. Por ejemplo, nos habla de la fe como un conjunto de creencias que alguna persona o grupo de personas puede tener. Otra de las definiciones que ofrece habla sobre la confianza, o el buen concepto que podemos tener sobre una persona o una situación. Cuando define el concepto de la fe en el cristianismo nos dice que es una virtud relativa a la teología que consiste en afirmar la revelación de Dios.
La Biblia también define la fe y nos ayuda a entender para qué sirve. Los siguientes versículos te ayudarán a tener un poco más de claridad sobre el concepto de la fe y te animarán en tu andar con Dios.

¿Cómo se define la fe en la Biblia?

1-Es la certeza de que recibiremos algo que aún no tenemos

Hebreos 11:1

Como cristianos, nuestra fe está basada en la certeza de que Dios (el objeto de nuestra fe), hará lo que esperamos, a su manera y en su tiempo. No pedimos al azar como niños malcriados o antojados. Pedimos de acuerdo con su voluntad, basando nuestras peticiones en lo que agrada a nuestro Dios.

2-Por fe agradamos a Dios y mostramos confianza en sus promesas

Hebreos 11:6

Cuando decimos que tenemos fe en Dios afirmamos que él es real en nuestras vidas y que es quien puede conceder nuestras peticiones y sueños más profundos. Esta afirmación agrada y alegra el corazón de nuestro Dios. Esa fe en él confirma que sabemos que él tiene todo el poder para concedernos lo que anhelamos hoy y también para darnos la vida eterna.

3-Es la respuesta a un Dios real que se nos revela de diversas formas porque anhela que le conozcamos

Isaias 45:5-6

Dios nos afirma en su Palabra que no hay ningún otro Dios. Pero él no se queda solo con las palabras. Él va más allá y se revela a nosotros. Si estamos atentos y le damos una oportunidad, podremos experimentar su toque en nuestros corazones y la fortaleza que él nos concede para vivir una vida que demuestra que él es el Señor de nuestro corazón
