WE MUST NOT BE TOUGH

"Do not be anxious about anything, but let your requests be known before God in all prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving." Philippians 4: 6.
The Bible tells us not to be anxious, but is this a reasonable request in our day? How can I be truly free from stress and hassle when there are so many things to deal with? What happens if you suddenly lose your job and can't keep paying your rent? How can you know for sure that you will be successful? What about this? How do you know? What would happen if…?

You can find reasons to worry. You may believe that it is necessary to be worried and restless about such things. Isn't it logical to strive for the future? But the Bible does not tell us that we should worry only about the really important things, the big questions in our life. On the contrary, he says that we should not be anxious about anything!

Eagerness and God

So the question now is: Do we believe the Bible?
"For the Gentiles seek all these things; but your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6: 32-33

God is faithful. This does not mean that you will get everything you want, but everything He has promised! What then has He promised us? He has promised that "all these things will be added to you!" Does this mean that we will get everything on a silver platter? Of course not! There is a condition that we must first meet, and that is that we must first seek the kingdom of God and his justice!

How do we first seek the kingdom of God? Simply doing God's will! God wants us to be obedient to what is written in the Bible. He wants us to have victory over sin! He wants us to be free from anxiety and worry! He wants us to be faithful!

The opposite of worry is faith. By faith you can go through life on earth and make decisions with confidence because God will guide you. Faith is total, blind obedience. Faith is doing what God tells you, long before you know what the result will be. Faith is not understanding everything - faith is doing it anyway because you trust God's perfect care and guidance!

Read God's Word, pray to Him and do His will even though you don't understand every little detail. This is how you can first seek the kingdom of God! Do this and God will take care of you.
