WHEN WE DON’T SEE WHAT GOD IS DOING

"And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place". (Genesis 2:21)

When God started the process of making a helper for Adam, He did not allow Adam to see the process. He put Adam to sleep.

That reveals an essential aspect of how God makes what we want for us. He does not allow us to see the process. He does not show us what He is doing while He is doing it. It is a frustrating process for us as humans.

We like to see things as they happen so we can track the progress. When we don’t see or know what is happening, we become impatient. It happens to all of us. When we don’t receive updates on a crucial happening, we become frustrated. We like to know whatever is happening when it is happening.

But that is not the way God deals with us. He does not show us how He works while He’s working. That is why our relationship with God is based on faith. Though we don’t see what He is doing, we must trust Him. We must trust the Lord in the darkness when we can’t see Him.

Another reason why God put Adam to sleep was so that he would not see the beginnings of the helper God was making for him. People have a way of devaluing you when they see how God made you.

In the Bible, you find very often that God does not show how He raises the people He uses. God takes them to a desert or far off place away from everyone’s view and prepares them. Then He presents them.

That is what God did with Adam. God did not allow Adam to see how He created the helper for him. So the first time Adam saw the helper God had made for him, God’s work wowed him. God works when we are not aware and shows us what He has done when we are not expecting it; that’s why His work often comes to us as a miracle.

Just rest assured. The Lord is working in the darkness to present you with a miracle in the light.
