Focus on your purpose

FOCUS ON PURPOSE 1
Text: “He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant.” Psalm 105:17
Today we’ll look closely at our opening verse for about three days now. The coming of Joseph to Egypt looked like a misfortune. He was sold like an animal. He became a servant and eventually a prisoner. His story was a story of cruelty, hatred wickedness and abandonment. It was a story of “everyone and everything is against me.” But on the pages of scripture we find a different understanding and insight. His coming to Egypt was on a divine assignment. God actually sent him there.
The place of human hatred and disappointment could become the birth place of divine purpose. Looking at the story of Joseph we can either focus on the maltreatment and the hatred or focus on the divine purpose that came out of it.
This is a choice we must also make in life. We either focus on what is wrong and not working or focus on God’s eternal purpose for our lives. What gets magnified eventually will depend on what we focus on. The purpose of God for your life is far bigger and more important than all that life can ever throw at you.
You must be very careful not to get overwhelmed by the twists of life and lose sight of what is divine and eternal. I cannot guarantee that everyone will love you and that people who have disappointed you will suddenly change. Focusing on your challenges does not necessarily change them. In most cases they are magnified beyond proportion. Instead of focusing on your challenges why not focus on God’s eternal purpose for your life. One major step in overcoming your challenges in life is to consciously pursue God’s assignment for your life. If you don’t have a clear cut focus in life you’ll be easily distracted by the circumstances of life.

My eyes are on God's eternal purpose for my life. I see the purpose of God coming to pass in every situation.
