«El Toro Dorado» | Leyendas de mi país/Legends of my country SC30W2

Ese día regresaba feliz de haber podido asistir por primera vez a la reunión Pre-filven. Ésta se llevó a cabo en el poblado del "Cortijo", una localidad que corresponde a los Valles de Tucutunemo, en la ciudad de Villa de Cura,Aragua/ 🇻🇪.

That day I returned happy to have been able to attend the Pre-filven meeting for the first time. This took place in the village of "Cortijo", a locality that corresponds to the Tucutunemo Valleys, in the city of Villa de Cura, Aragua/ 🇻🇪.

Justamente la profesora poeta y escritora: Kristel Guirado estaba siendo homenajeada. Al culminar el evento y regresar a "la Villa", escuché a la prima de Kristel, la profesora Hermila Ysaya (Milo) contar una anécdota que le sucedió a su querida madre. Por allá en el año 1920 . Relacionada con una leyenda que es conocida como: "El toro Dorado".

The poet and writer, teacher Kristel Guirado, was being honored. As the event ended and I returned to "the Village", I heard Kristel's cousin, Professor Hermila Ysaya (Milo), tell an anecdote that happened to her beloved mother. Back in the year 1920. Related to a legend known as: "The Golden Bull"

Nos cuenta la profesora Milo que su madre, en aquellos tiempos, regresaba de los Valles de Tucutunemo. Esta población hoy día cuenta con muy poco transporte ¿Ahora imaginen vivir en los inicios del siglo pasado? La hora de regreso fue casi a eso de las 5 de la tarde. Por supuesto, venir a pie desde los valles hasta la Villa, es un largo trecho. Así que la noche les agarró de camino.

Professor Milo tells us that her mother, at that time, was returning from the Tucutunemo Valleys. This town has very little transportation today. Now imagine living at the beginning of the last century? The return trip started around 5 pm. Of course, walking from the valleys to the village is a long way. So night fell on them as they were making their way back.

En ese regreso fue que sintieron la presencia de este toro dorado. Desde un sitio llamado el "Torreón" hasta llegar a "Las Mercedes". Ella contó que podían ver cómo la maleza se movía al caminar del animal y también el bufido, pero no veían el cuerpo. Durante todo el camino "el toro" les acompañó.

It was on that return journey that they felt the presence of this golden bull. From a place called "Torreón" until they reached "Las Mercedes". She recounted that they could see the undergrowth move as the animal walked, and they could also hear its snorting, but they couldn't see the body. The bull accompanied them the entire way.

Villa de Cura tiene muchas leyendas. Por ser un pueblo ésto forma parte de la cultura y tradiciones de esta ciudad/pueblo. Durante la investigación para este post, pedí ayuda a los poetas por el grupo de WhatsApp "Amigos de la biblioteca" e inmediatamente causó revuelo. Algunos sabían poco o nunca habían escuchado de la leyenda. Sin embargo, la profesora Yurmari, anterior bibliotecaria me dió una pista importante con respecto al origen de esta leyenda.

Villa de Cura has many legends. As a small town, these form part of its culture and traditions. During the research for this post, I asked for help from poets through the WhatsApp group "Friends of the Library" and it immediately caused a stir. Some knew little or had never heard of the legend. However, Professor Yurmari, a former librarian, gave me an important clue regarding the origin of this legend.

Así que busqué en internet y descubrí que esta leyenda nace en los Andes de américa del sur. Esta leyenda está relacionada con la libertad de nuestro país. Dónde este toro representa a la tierra que quisieron humillar y someter los españoles y el toro representa ese espíritu indomable de la gente de nuestro continente.

So I searched online and discovered that this legend originated in the Andes Mountains of South America. This legend is related to the freedom of our country. Where this bull represents the land that the Spanish wanted to humiliate and subdue, and the bull represents that indomitable spirit of the people of our continent.

También se cree que este toro "protege o condena" a las personas por su actuación en la vida. De allí entendí, la experiencia que contó la mamá de la profesora Milo.

It is also believed that this bull "protects or condemns" people based on their actions in life. That's how I understood the experience that Professor Milo's mother shared.
