RE: Art Explained by a Writer: Interior with Woman at the Window (1910)

The story isn't far from reality. When someone reaches such an advanced age, it attracts attention, so much so that there are no congratulations. All people want to know, especially nowadays, is what they do to live so long. The important thing here is that they are lucid, intelligent, reason, think, and act. Some younger people can't remember several phone numbers; that's the true glory: to have such an advanced age and still have their neurons very active

I agree with you. And also that at such an advanced age, people are still living independently under difficult circumstances. That's good for people, too. From experience, I know that many who end up in a nursing home have an average life expectancy of three months. How awful is that?
This story, or rather this situation, reminds me of the 90-year-old, or was it even a 100-year-old, who went skydiving. Just imagine. I also remember an interview with a man approaching 100 who was asked how he had lived to such an old age. Well, that man simply smoked and had a drink every night before going to bed. When you see what is labelled as unhealthy nowadays, that man had the most unhealthy lifestyle you can imagine and yet he lived to a ripe old age, strange but true.

Nowadays, many people want eternal youth, failing to consider that what's truly important is the ability to think and analyze. There are young people who lack coordination and forget easily. Reaching this age while remaining mentally independent is ideal. No matter what we do, our immune system declines, but our brains remain healthy if we stay active and analytical. That's the ideal: old, but not fools

I never wanted eternal youth or eternal life; all I wanted was to grow older. Of course, that also has to do with my childhood, because when you're older, you can stand on your own two feet and hopefully stand up for yourself and protect yourself. I have always been taught that the immune system does not decline at all and that, as you get older, you actually get the flu or are ill less often because your body has produced a lot of antibodies. I firmly believe in that. There are other reasons why older people waste away, and that has a lot to do with the fact that they are stuffed with medication by uninterested doctors and are not considered valuable, and are lonely. This is despite the fact that they still have a lot to share and a wealth of information in terms of life experience and insight. But why would someone who prefers to lie in bed all day or play video games want to listen to an older person? Why would such a person want to learn anything and worry about the future when there is always someone to support them?

Eternal life sounds like a curse to me.

The immune system does decline; I know this because I've seen some elderly people at the gym exercising, and they're always talking about their ailments, doctor visits, medications, etc. I've also seen some videos of older people who have taken an age verification test. Let me explain: it's a system that measures your age according to your physical condition, not the age on your ID card, and they all come out with the same age as their ID. This shows that they are still active, but their immune system is declining.
