This outstanding pictorial artist was born on June 16, 1796 in Paris. He belonged to a bourgeois family that wanted him to dedicate himself to the family business. However, he was only focused on drawing, which is why his father ended up accepting his vocation and financing his artistic studies in the Gothic and Norman city of Rouen.

He ventured into Realism and was one of the promoters of French Impressionism. His preferred genres were landscaping and portraiture.

He died on February 22, 1875, in Paris.

Below we will present three of his works so that you can choose the one that most motivates you to write. The first is called: "Agar in the Desert" (1835), the second, "Forest of Fontainebleau" (1830), and the third "The Bell Tower of Douai " (1871)
